I've heard today that he will be at the club next year, done deal. I believe we are only offering 1 year whilst he was pushing for more.

I hope so. What I'd like to see Round 1 next year.

C: Shiels, Mitchell, Smith
R: McEvoy, O'Meara, O'Rourke

Just read this quote from O'Rourke's manager: (might be from trade radio yesterday)

“Jonno was basically he won their training award pre-Christmas and had a good summer, was in good nick, was in Clarko’s best side.

“Unfortunately he had hamstring trouble. Came back through the VFL in a trial game, tore his hamstring, missed 6 weeks. Came back Good Friday, played 1 or 2, then tore his hamstring again.

“Jonno hasn’t had a good run of it. I’m quite confident in my discussions with Hawthorn that Jonno will be given an opportunity for 2018.”

No rush to move on JOR. We don't have a heap of midfield depth and on exposed form he is probably the pick of 'the rest'. Having said that, if he gets so much as an ingrown hair I would delist immediately.

Is best 22 when fit so don't see why we don't keep him.
Took years to work out Cyril's hamstrings, hopefully 2018 is JOR's year.
no point delisting him for a few reasons.

mostly, in a supposedly shallow draft, and already having later picks, if we were to delist him, we'd be replacing him with pick 100.....keep in mind we need to make similar decisions on Heatherley Willsmore

On what grounds is he best 22 when fit?
On being a top 5 pick?
Gotta show something first to be a best 22 lock
Coolaide.... sip....
Wasn't he a Hawks supporter as a kid & has Dunstall tattooed across his tummy.... such is life.
Good mates with JOM & TOM yeah..?? The 3 Amigos! The 3 headed monster...

seriously-- I think that 2018 & JOR will culminate in him being top 5 in the B&F

Hodge gone, Gibson gone, Willsmore as good as gone. Impey in. That is 2 list space

A literal quote from his manager. He won the pre-season training award. Was clearly best 22 in the practice games.

We went in one short on the list last year so technically we won’t need to delist anyone as we have three spaces. I’d say unless we improve our draft position or bring in an additional player we won’t make more list changes.

From what I understand he has a contract for 2018, that's a guarantee.. what type of contract that is will depend on what happens tomorrow, either 1 year extension on primary list or he will be offered a rookie contract.

I worry about delisting then rookie listing him.

With the lack of depth in the draft, I wouldn’t be surprised if someone else took a punt on him in the main draft or as a DFA.

We were already 1 short on the list.....rookie list basically gone. We have picks 43, 67, 80. If we get rid of anyone else, we're either not replacing or using a very very high pick. Better off giving JOR 1 more year

I reckon O'Rouke will get another year as will Hartung and Heatherly.
Stewart and Willsmore to be dropped.
Thoughts?

Heatherley just bought a house in New Zealand.

Make of that what you will. He's either one financially prudent and forward thinking young man, or he's going back home permanently
I wouldn't buy a house if I knew I'd become unemployed the following week so I'd read that more that he's staying, rather than being cut.

Maybe different if he could purchase without a mortgage though.

Holy shit. The Dingley purchase was a smoke screen.

The Hawthorn FC is moving to Kiwi Land.
