He has accepted a 1 year deal. He and the club differed in their views as to his value. It seems 17 other clubs were more in line with Hawthorn's view. But he will stay on the list for one more year.
One year deal is the best option for both parties. I hope he has another big preseason and then can stay on the park for the regular season!

I'd be shocked if any club was going to offer a two year deal. Injuries have crippled his career to date so this year really is his last chance to get things right and prove his body is up to the task.

Really hope he can get a good run at it as he was a talented junior and hasn't really had the chance to build on that.

The new Ellis?

Could be harsh, but after this amount of time, i'm not holding out hope he'll magically recover and stop getting injuries. Hopefully I'm wrong though.

If he plays a brilliant grand final and wins us a premiership, like Xavier Ellis did in 2008, I’ll be rapt.

Go Jono!

Unfortunately it's a pretty apt comparison Ellis actually did more than Jono if we compare.

Be great if he gets in the 22 and stays there and performs

JOR is getting recurring injuries. Ellis kept getting new ones, he was the type who’d decapitate himself getting into bed

I think 1 year is fair. He needs a decent run. If he can’t get a decent run through injury again then it’s a case of what could have been rather than a case of what it should of been. 1 year of good consistent footy with no injury.
Make or break next year.

Surely the Cyril regime is working by now

The last game he played, he looked like a different guy. I only recognised him from his number a few times. The way he moved even his upper body shape looked different. I was hoping that it might have been related to his long lay off and someone making some changes to help his hamstring situation?
