Tige, where can you get time on ground stats from??

I agree with your post, interesting to see the stats

You can also go to the ultimate footy fantasy football game(run by the age) and when you click on a player a little screen pops up and you will see a header "game log". click on that and it has most of the important stats and TOG as %

The herald sun post them all year.. I'm not sure if you can find them on archive but it's the first stat I look at when seeing how a players performed. AFL will become more analytical, it's following the American sports where recruiters pick up on talent using analytics.

I haven't seen JOR play more than 70% of game time.
Do you think that is due to endurance issues or just pecking order in the team?

His tank is huge, he is one of the best runners at the club ( behind the 3 freaks ).. He can run a high 15s beep and sub 10 min 3km, his tank isn't the issue. I think it's the work load management, we learnt from over loading suspect players (Rioli, JOR in particular) will end up in further set backs.

I'm sure as his strength improves and those hammies become stronger we will see his work load increase.

He may be talking about stoppages where a lot of time it can be man on man situations.. But I mean gee, has anyone watched any mid in those situations? They all ball watch and they have all be burnt, doesn't matter if your JOR or Dangerfield.
There was a goal kicked in the last where JOR was standing in the zone and vince fired a bullet to a player behind him. JOR's first couple of steps were towards Vince to cut off a lead but he was fooled and it went over his head. There were other hawks in the vicinity who could have called him back if they thought the kick was on but they didn't. Its just bullshit to call him out for not manning up when he was playing the team defence as instructed.

Am not particularly excited about this kid, but if Clarko and co. wanted him then I'm prepared to give him time.

Who are the 3 freaks, tige? I'm guessing Izzy is 1...

I think Hartung & O'Rourke have quite alot of similarities. Which isn't a good thing. Can't have too many lads that can't lay a tackle consistently.

I think the 3 boys run sub 6s for 2km.. I heard that, if true it's absolutely freakish

Yeah Smith is on record saying that he can do sub 3min 1km, he said he could probably push it to around 2:30 or 2:40 but would need to drop weight to go better than that

Yeah that's unbelievable.. I regularly pump out 2kms, maybe 2-3 a week and I run them at about 7.30-7.40, I just can't fathom how blokes can keep that pace up. I'm sure if those 3 weren't playing footy they could get to international running levels.

At the Combine Brad Hill did a sub 10 minute 3km time trial
last year Josh Schoenfield did it in 9:15

Under 18s (years ago) Ryan Crowleys brother ran a 9:30sh 3km, he was a pure athlete, I know Crowls was close to that mark as well. I used to mentally defeat myself before them, 2-3 nervous shits beforehand lol.

I think the biggest problems JOR has is a) he is inexperienced and not yet acclimatised to the pace of AFL footy. This leads him to react just a bit slowly to situations that he will come to react to more quickly in time. Right now things are just not intuitive but experience and coaching will fix that. He looks more assured as the main man at VFL from the limited number of times I have seen him b) He isn't slow in a straight line but I don't think he is a great mover laterally or from a standing start. Once moving he would be quicker than most of our team.

I think the combination of the two means he sometimes arm tackles because he is in slightly the wrong position. When he is in a position to use his body to tackle he is quite capable.

In the offseason I'd like to see him build on his first full preseason to improve fitness, core strength and his ability to move laterally and accelerate. I think that physical improvement and more experience and coaching will see him improve a lot. He needs continuity so hoping Russell gets him over his soft tissue injuries. For the record, most players take 5-6 season to start hitting their straps even without the long history of soft tissue injuries that JOR has.

Is he in our best 22 for 2016? Marginal. Will come down to structure and form considerations. With all our injuries he is a better option that Lovell and Stewart tackled more but won no more ball than JOR and I wonder if Stewart lacks the conditioning to make a real long term impact this year. Seems to have gone quiet at Box Hill which is understandable for a rookie listed kid in his first season and is the only player to play less game time (per match) than JOR. I think the big thing to recognise is that Clarko has chosen him over Hartung who got more of the ball but was a poor decision maker and is woeful defensively. JOR isn't first choice inside right now but he can relieve our mids as a rotation which is something Hartung can't do. JOR isn't playing his most favoured role, he mostly plans HFF which is I assume part of his development and the role Clarko most needs him to play.

Pretty decent write up

There are plenty of critics about this kid. Had no really run at consecutive games until this year. Started early and struggled with the right decision to distribute the ball
Or take the game on. This is what our champs do so well. Each time he had played yes there are errors but the one thing which has stood out is how clean he is with the ball on the deck in traffic.

I see some really good development over this year. Continues to build core strength and playing clarko's system takes time.

Recon this kids will compliment many of the new kids we have see this year. Confidence is a massive thing, watts has taken 6-7 years to get it. He is trying too hard to make the right decision instead of just playing footy. All about confidence.

Expectations are lower than I would have hoped for. He still should be a pretty solid player.
