I Thought He Would Be Taking Over Games By Now But He Isnt. He Needs To Start Earning His Own Footy And Racking Up More Touches. I Think He Will Become A Middle Tier Midfielder In Our Club And Will Struggle To Get A Game Next Year IMO

So far he hasnt shown very much. Does nothing outstanding- tbh never understood the hype of the guy since seeing a few of his game.

I have written that I am not sold on O'Rourke but given his age I would still give him 2 years to prove himself.

Agree, at the moment he hasnt shown anything to suggest he is AFL standard but he could be one of those players who starts gunning it all of a sudden after knuckling down and doing another good preseason.

I'd give him some more time.

I Wish I Was Writing Something Worthy Enough To Stick In The Brain My Friend. I Am Just Rambling Opinions, Havent Done It For A Few Years. But I Didn't Think Capitalising Words Unnecessarily Would Have People Actually Wasting Their Time Talking About It Over The Thread Topic At Hand

At the risk of repeating myself, you do understand that he has been smashed by injuries from day 1 at GWS right? he has had one, that's right one proper, full preseason, which was the last one. Give him another full pre-season, injury free and then if this time next year he hasn't progressed then maybe we have a problem.

I reckon that he will struggle to gain another contract.....full stop.

I reckon you would be wrong.

That's cool Axeman, ask yourself tho, as to why GWS would give him away for peanuts? he obviously was well behind the pecking order of their midfield and he wouldn't break into it as of now, in my view.

Pick 19 wasn't peanuts.
They had A LOT of players to shed, JOR wasn't the only player they've let go.

You are right pick 19 isn't peanuts, however my point stands, they kept who they beleived would cut-it and JOR wasn't on that list.

Or maybe they kept the guys that were proven performers because they hadn't spent 75% of their time at GWS injured? No doubt he has a way to go but I think you are being too simplistic with that line of argument.

Given what we gave up for him he will get another contract. I think his biggest problem is trying to get the balance right between inside and outside. I think he needs to become one or the other. I have yet to see anything that shows he can be a run and carry player, but some of his hands in close gives me hope he can become a solid enough inside mid. I think he has the frame to put on some size. Pre draft he was pretty explosive but ongoing hammy troubles have definitely dented his confidence I think

Maybe you are right, I don't perceive it to be simplistic, that is your view.

I am happy to give him time for sure, if he can improve then he will make it, if he doesn't he will be cut.

Let's not also not forget that he was touted as a gun mid-fielder, pick number 2 and to date I have yet to see any qualities of a gun mid-fielder, I have seen good signs just the same.
