GOOD JOKE!

If You Dont Think O'Rourke Has Been Underwhelming So Far You Are Delusional Mate. He Was Drafted At Number 2 In 2012 FFS And Hasnt Shown Anywhere Near The Standard Expected Of His Draft Status And Probably Is Hardly Living Up To What We Gave Up To Acquire Him. He Is On The Fringes Of Our Team. The Only "Good Joke" Is What We Gave Up To Pick Up A Player Who Has Potential But Has Never Been In Our Best Players On The Ground In Any Game In His Career At Hawthorn

At the risk of repeating myself, you do understand that he has been smashed by injuries from day 1 at GWS right? he has had one, that's right one proper, full preseason, which was the last one. Give him another full pre-season, injury free and then if this time next year he hasn't progressed then maybe we have a problem.

So He Has Had One Full Preseason With Hawthorn, But I Dont See Fitness As An Issue For Him. Nor Do I Think He Fails To Play To Team Structures. He Uses The Ball Soundly When In Possession. I Just Dont Think An Early "Injury Rattled" AFL Career Is An Excuse For Him Not To Live Up To His #2 Overall Draft Status. He Had Actually Played A Fair Few Games In The Neafl Between His 9 Senior Games For Gws Prior To Being Traded To Hawthorn So Stop Acting Like He Is New On The Block When He Plays. People Are So Quick To Rubbish Obrien Who Is A Late 2nd Round Pick And A KPP Who Takes Longer To Develop Yet O'Rourke Gets A Pass For Being A Poor Mans Whitecross Taken At Number 2 Overall In The 2012 Draft? Lets Be Serious Right Now, He Is Extremely Underwhelming. He Doesnt Break The Game Apart Like He Should. He Isnt Damaging With His Disposal Nor Does He Hurt Teams By Hitting The Scoreboard. What Does Jono O'Rourke Actually Excel At ? What Is His Strength That You Can Identify Him With? Because Right Now He Seems Like A Goer And He Is Lucky That We Are Lacking Some Midfield Depth To Push Him Out At The Moment. He Isnt The Future Of Our Midfield Unfortunately And Id Be Genuinely Concerned If The Club Doesnt Find A Better Talent Through The Draft, Trading, Or By Getting Woodward Healthy To Replace Him In The Future. I Dont Think He Has Had A Memorable Game For Us Yet

I'm sure the coaches would expect a bit more out of him but the big problem this board has is that it expects him to play well in the first team. He is basically a first or second year player based on fitness age in the best team in the comp playing a role that isn't most suitable to him with soft tissue injuries planing him for four years. If we asked Hartung to start playing as an inside mid and he struggled would anyone be surprised? I just don't see why people expect him to win 20+ per week after only 10 games or so for the club. None of our star mids did that so why expect it of O'Rourke?

I think it is pretty obvious we keep his game time lower than other players due to his soft tissue injuries. I don't think he has confidence in his body to really gut run all day but he will be able to do that in future.

You Are Right He Has Had Soft Tissue Injury Issues But In The Last Two Years I Believe He Has Only Missed Three Games From A Hamstring Injury In The VFL Or AFL And Anyother VFL Games He Didnt Play Were For Resting Purposes. So Missing Three Games Over 2 Years For A Hammy Isnt To Bad? I Just Believe He Is Disappointing Considering He Isn't Setting The AFL Or The Vfl Alight Right Now And Just Because We Didnt Draft Him Number 2 Overall Doesnt Mean That He Gets A Pass And Should Only Play To The Standards Expected Of The 2nd Round Draft Pick We Traded For Him Rather Then Have Him Live Up To His Draft Stocks. He Doesnt Excell At All In One Field At The Moment. I Hope He Starts Taking The Game On But For Now He Is A Softer Version Of Brendan Whitecross

Right Now He Is A Solid Midfielder But He Doesnt Excell At Any Specific Element Of The Game. I Like The Lad, But Right Now He Has Been As Lack Lustre As Brad Hills Season Has Been (barring The Last Couple Games hahaha)

Roughie Why Would You Deliberately Employ An Annoying Affection Into Your Writing Which Makes It Difficult For People To Read And Enjoy Your Content?

Forget O'Rourke's Contributions For A Moment, What Is This Schizen And Why Are You Doing It?

Can You Please Stop It?

Haha I Just Do It In General. I Do It In My Facebook Statuses. I Am Just Surprised That People Waste Their Time Commenting On It, Or Even Allowing It To Bother Them? Just Ignore My Posts In Future If It Is That Irritating? Its Pretty Simple.

IF anyone is at fault for picking him up at pick 2 its GWS not Hawthorn. His draft pick is irrelevant.

JOR missed a lot of his first preseason at the club and has been injured twice this year but due to byes etc. I'm not clear on how many games he actually missed. He played a single game at VFL level before being selected in the AFL team the second time and he only played a bit over 3/4s but he played well enough to be chosen over Hartung, Lovell, Stewart etc. But having a limited preparation for a match is hardly a formula for success at AFL level for an inexperienced player.

Matches played:
AFL 1 (28 March)
AFL 2 (3 April)
AFL 3 (10 April)
VFL 1 (April)
VFL 2 (23 April)
VFL 3 (21 May)
VFL 4 (5 June)
VFL 5 (11 June)
VFL 6 (9 July)
AFL 4 (14 July)
AFL 5 (24 July)
AFL 6 (6 August)
VFL 7 (14 August)

1. You can see he missed a month between VFL 2 and VFL 3.
2. And then another month between VFL 5 and VFL 6.
3. If he plays this week it will be the first time this season he has played 6 weeks in a row.

For an experienced senior player those are not insurmountable obstacles but for a guy with only one full preseason under his belt and a lack of continuity in playing games across all four seasons of his career its tough going.

I Think I Said In Earlier Posts That Its Not Hawthorns Choice That He Was Drafted At That High Pick. Now I Dont Know O'Rourkes Full Injury Break Down Barring What Has Happened During The Regular Season In The AFL/VFL/NEAFL. He Missed Three Weeks From Hamstring And Then He Missed Three Weeks Including A Bye Round From The VFL From What I Suspect That He Was A Travelling Emergency On Hawthorn Games That Clashed With Box Hill As He Wasnt Listed To Carry An Injury.

Now I Dont Know Much About His Injuries In The Offseason That Have Kept Him Out Of All Preseasons In His Career Barring One ? Were They All Hamstring Injuries? I Have Sympathy For The Lad If He Hasnt Had A Full Preseason Barring One, But I Am More Concerned That He Doesnt Really Dominate A Game Or Even Shine Through With One Aspect Of His Game To Dominate A Quarter. I Honestly Think He Is Behind Whitecross Right Now, And I Guess Maybe I Feel Let Down Because I Thought O Rourke Would Show More By Now Regardless Of His Offseason Injuries. I Cant Even Recall Him Taking Control Of A Quarter.......But Maybe I Have Just Expected Alot More Of Him By Now And Now Are Overly Judgemental And Negative On What He Has Shown Thus Far?

He has had hamstring injuries, a broken jaw, shoulder problems and a thumb issue this year. I see him a little like Cyril or Zack in that he's had to be managed because of his history of soft tissue injuries. He still isn't as it as he should be and still has worries after his Hammy earlier this year.

I'm hoping with another preseason he can get that bit stronger and start getting the confidence in his body. You can see what confidence in his body has done for Cyril and even Whitecross this year. Webby is starting to come on and have some continuity at Box Hill but would need to get another contract and have another preseason of strengthening to have a chance of reaching his potential I feel.

Some players don't have the luck or the body to go with their abilities. Not everyone can make it as a footballer, JOR will get next year at least, I'm hoping Webby does as well.

Haha I Just Do It In General. .

You never used to do it, so it's not a habit that you can't get out of. Why did you start?

It genuinely makes your posts more difficult to read; our brain processes capitals with special significance, normally meaning a new sentence, or a proper noun.

I Never Did It In The Past Because I Hadnt Had A Post For A Good Couple Years So In Time Things Change. Honestly Its Laughable That People Are Making This Big Of A Deal About It. Just Ignore My Posts, Move On, Were All Adults. I Just Write Posts In A Way I Want, Just Ignore It If Its That Much Of An Issue. Haha Its An Internet Forum FFS Its Not The Be All And End All Of The World Lads. Skim Past My Posts I Am Just Using This As An Outlet Of Expression OF Opinion And Am Not Concerned If Someone Reads My Posts Or Not Just Skip What I Write, Dont Reply, And Then Were Both Happy :) Cheers
