I honestly think Jono won't be able to make his true impact till this happens.
1. Hodge, Mitchell and burgoyne leave
2. Gets another good preseason into him and gains confidence.
3. Gains 50 games experience and gets consecutive games
4. gets to spend most of his time in the centre and around the pack
5. Also get a louder voice and become a player we look for on the field

JOR always seems to be in the right places. Needs more voice I think. Psychology plays a huge part in sport, could be that he still doesn't feel comfortable, god knows it happens to me when I am new to a team (massively different circumstance I know)

I could have sworn some one (one of the mods) saw him play an intra club and look really good. Was it you Abasi ?
Yep tore it up in the intra club. Had 30 odd touches inside and outside.

I have been unreliably informed that the club has lost faith in him. This stemmed from him being with Tallia when he was arrested. Poor decision maker both on & off the field. The person that told me was adamant that the club has told him he is not a required player next year. Not vouching for my source, but if he was traded, it definitely wouldn't come as a surprise.

I can't see us getting anything but a fourth rounder for him at best.

Can see him playing a link up role (thinking Lewis) across a wing or half forward... I think he's smart enough to find the footy 25 times a game..

needs to build a massive tank & learn to be versatile as well - rotating inside / outside with JOM

does he have any elite attributes?

if not, he needs to have the biggest pre-season of his life & get extra tutelage of Sitchell/Lewy

To be fair to JOR he's far from the only underwhelming first round selection from that 2012 draft - Plowman, Toumpas, T Menzel, Jaksch , Josh Simpson.. still I haven't given up hope of him becoming a serviceable mid.

David Parkin always said you had to be elite at one thing to make it at AFL football.
Mitchell had his side step and ball getting ability for example.

I can't see JOR being elite at anything.
He has to find that in 2017 or he will be delisted.

Farren Ray played 200 games....

I think he just needs game time and consecutive games. Every time I've seen him play he hasn't been bad. Confidence and not worrying about his spot in the team would do him wonders.

I have a similar opinion. JOR ripped it up pre-season. It worries me that he can do it when the pressure is not on. How he played pre-season is precisely what we lacked all season, which was dash from the clearance. Our defensive set up at clearances would not have helped JOR but he does not take the game on enough. Assume we get JOM and TOM, JOR does not get a game. Am leaning towards delist.

Yeh, but Parko said "make it" in AFL footy.;)
Ray got games, just like Paul Abott got games, but making it is something else.

I think if you get to 200 games you can tell people you made it.

You can tell em what ever you like, it's the response you get as the words drip from your lips.
150 of those games were absolute question marks.
As in, really?
Did very little on the field, and butchered the ball weakly when he did get it.
Unbelievable to make it to that number, absolute gift.

C: Shiels (25), T.Mitchell (23), Hartung (21)
R: Ceglar (25), O'Meara (22), O'Rourke (22)

People righting off O'Rourke because he hasn't done much need to understand that he's only played 17 games in 5 seasons due to injury. Continuity and consistency could be the key to O'Rourke becoming a better player next year. I feel like he's one of those late developers who will hit his straps around 24-25.

When he came to Hawthorn I think a lot of experts expected him to be an immediate fix, when really he was seen by the Hawks coaching staff as a long-term prospect. I reckon 2017 is the year he starts to click as a footballer and we see the best of him. At 22 he's got plenty of time to turn things around. He could very well benefit from playing as the 3rd-4th string midfielder behind O'Meara, T.Mitchell and Lovell in years to come.
