Ran into him at Spotless before half time

For some reason when I first read it I was thinking Spotlight not Spotless...

"Ran into him at Spotlight in the haberdashery section..."

In all fairness he was probably sent there to get some sequins for Jeff's jacket.

Encouraging start for O'Rourke considering it was his first game in 2 years a la Jaeger last year.

For me its important he gets a run of games to build on this just to see what he can offer. I still think he can make the grade if his body holds up. So far so good.

Ill be barracking for him next week!

I really liked how he linked up with omear and Mitchell at stoppages either sitting off the pack or charging off the back of the square at centre bounces. Used the ball really well by foot. Good luck to him.

Great observation mate.. he was a perfect support for those 2, you have to wonder how much he improves those 2 by staying in the side and increasing his playing minutes?

And now we see why he was playing off halfback for a couple of weeks at Box Hill.

I noted with interest (and more than a little surprise) that he was in quite a few centre bounces in the first quarter, but didn't really notice him having much of an impact. I thought he did better when he was coming off the square. I felt he looked a little lost when in at the bounce. What did you notice that made you think he was linking well with the other two? Blocking and shepherding?

Definitely looked better in the 2nd half against the Dogs.

My knock on him is he lacks intensity and desperation.

This.

Hopefully this improves with match fitness. Looked like he had minimal 2nd efforts in him.

But ball use clean, and knows where to run. Has footy IQ.

In the first and/or second joe positioned himself on the defensive side of the contest at stoppages around the ground and linked up a few times. Not a lot but the way he did it was Birchall like. Got us going forward rather than lateral or just hacking it forward.

Re-watching the game, it was very much a performance to build upon. Not surprisingly, it appeared that he was nervous to push himself to the maximum fearing what might happen and as such second efforts/chases were not as we/he might want BUT his usage and positioning were very good. Worth the next two games to build and get up to AFL speed and more importantly intensity. If after Brissy and Carlton we don't see more, Birch comes in and he moves out otherwise we have ourselves a player for midfield rotation

I feel like I'm usually a positive guy, but I didn't think he laid it all out there with the second efforts. Good run player when we were on top.

I would imagine there is direction for him to not put it all on the line out there, particularly with his hamstrings. I'm sure they'd much rather he didn't get to a tackle than potentially ping a hammy and be down a rotation for the game and potentially have his career end.

If he can become a good player within his current limitations, and get to a point where he can exceed his limitations occasionally like Cyril did, he will keep his spot.

I agree in general with your sentiment, but there’s no way in hell I’d be using Cyril as a comparison for JOR ;)
