Jonathon Griffin asks for a trade

Do you 2 Einsteins have better ideas for new stuff to talk about now the season is almost over?

the fact the you want to spend the time trying to see if Adealide is the dumbest trader in the AFL kind of shows the levels that you work at, I'm not saying the idea is all that bad, but the context your doing the thread is childish to say the least

*edit - saying that - I look forward to seeing the results of this "experiment"

2nd round pick at most otherwise Griffin can stay put at Adelaide. We won't be giving away a first rounder or 2 picks for a second string ruckman.

see its these posts that just annoy me, the tone is just all wrong

you don't know what Fremantle will do, you just know what you don't want Fremantle to do

you also don't know who the player is clearly because he is not a second string ruckman - he was INJURED

do some research mate

Whoever comes in to Freo as 2nd ruck to Sandi would preferably be mobile enough to also play forward while Sandi is rucking. Bradley is actually not a bad forward (kicking is good) but needs a lot of work on his rucking, suspect he will be getting trained on this preseason.

Harvey and Bond have said a number of times already they will not be trading the early picks. Warnock was ideal for us but his loss is not as important as getting quality young midfielders, also Connelly is coming along nicely and on track for games in 2010 probably.

If Warnock and Griffen are of equal value then maybe whatever Carlton is offering for Warnock can go straight to Adelaide instead for us to get Griffen. Seems strange if Griffen wants back to WA that WC are not being considered, Cox is older than Sandi, Seaby is a complete hack and soft as - I would think they need a 2nd ruckman just as much as Freo and if Griffen is not as mobile then it doesn't hurt them as much because Cox can play forward.

seababoon made the comment about the crows & dockers, I'm just following through, so far it looks like he's wrong.

As for your mind reading abilities, don't give up your day job mate.

You must be easily annoyed matey, judging by your aggro tone.
I do know who Griffin is for your information (so no need for any further research) and I can assure you he wouldn't take over from Sandilands as our number one ruckman, capisce. FWIW I do have a fair knowledge how Freo will approach their draft/trading and to suggest we'll give Adelaide more than a pick for a second string ruckman, well, you're dreaming.

yep, you've clearly got you knowledge upto date

He's staying and he'll form, along with Maric, the best young ruck combo in the comp.........

Sandilands will fail to get his boots imported anymore and will slip and be unable to ruck so you have.....

Kepler!

I think there's a v good possibility that Griffin is staying at Adelaide. My point is really that if Adelaide want more than a pick in the 20's then, from my understanding, Freo would not be trading for him anyway. We are likely to take Natanui in the ND if he's available and won't be shelling out a high pick or 2x 2nd rounders on another ruckman (I guess that would make him the second string ruckman?) to pick up the 30% slack from Sandilands. More than happy with Kepler's efforts BTW.

What the Adelaide fans are objecting to is your use of the term "second string" to describe Griffin.

He's good enough to be a lead ruckman and probably would be at around half the clubs. However, Freo are in the unique position of having Sandilands as a clear #1 - so Griffin would be playing second fiddle to him, but he's definitely not second rate.

There have been a couple of fair trades proposed on the Adelaide board, one by Big Cox (admittedly a West Coast supporter who is the author of this rumour) and another by rgauci (who is one of your own).

Big Cox's suggestion:
Freo lose: Warnock, Campbell
Freo gain: Griffin

Carlton lose: pick #24
Carlton gain: Warnock

Footscray lose: pick #32
Footscray gain: Campbell

Adelaide lose: Griffin
Adelaide gain: pick #24 and pick #32

Freo get to retain all their current draft picks, Adelaide get fair value on a contracted player and Footscray & Carlton pay fair price for the players they receive. My guess is that Carlton may have to throw in a later draft pick (probably 4th round) to even things up, the extra pick going to Freo.

rgauci's suggestion:
Freo lose: Warnock
Freo gain: Griffin

Carlton lose: pick #6, pick #24
Carlton gain: pick #10, Warnock

Adelaide lose: pick #10, Griffin
Adelaide gain: pick #6, pick #24

Freo do a direct swap of Warnock for Griffin (completely fair), Carlton give up their 2nd round pick and drop 4 places in the 1st round. Importantly though, they do get to remain in the first round.

Adelaide get a second round pick, plus move 4 places up the first round pecking order. I'd view that as fair compensation for losing Griffin.

What some Adelaide fans fail to comprehend/understand in their objection is that "second string ruckman" is the role Freo, hypothetically, would be trading for. I thought I spelt that out in terms of a "back-up" to Sandilands doing 30% of the ruck work. We don't need another "number 1" ruckman and won't be giving 2x Rd 2 picks to get one.
