I'm not yearning for Frost I have well and truly learnt, but if the hamstrings mean he is no longer super quick, he won't make it IMO.

Makes dumb, panicked decisions, poor disposal, doesn't link run (Howe had to coax him to give him a handball in the last)

Buddy I watched Marsh at VFL level the last few years and was a fan.

But his strengths at the lesser level just haven't been apparent at senior level and he lacks the ability that Frost has to do the basic defender role of at least beating his direct opponent, not mentioning Jonathon's abysmal disposal/decision making.

Marsh was putrid tonight and was even worse last week. He's been on our list and in the system long enough not to make some of the bone headed choices he does but he can't help himself.

We probably win tonight with Frost out there instead of Marsh.
If Frost had the capability to actually play well as a defender he would already be in the team for Marsh. But he isn't. I can't agree with you that Frost in that side tonight would have won us the game.

I agree with you that Marsh's weapons in the twos hasn't come up with the seniors. While he has shown short glimpses, like in the Fremantle game he hasn't really progressed. I think he wasn't as bad defensively tonight as previous weeks, he has some nice spoils and a good tackle in the last quarter but it's been the same since his draft day as his skills just let him down massively.

List me Marsh's exemplary efforts tonight and I'll offer a full retraction.

Actually don't because we both know there weren't any.

How does that prove Frost is the better option?

I was a massive Marsh fan but over the last 2-3 weeks I'm now convinced he won't make it
Fumbles too much
Sticks an arm in and try's to slap the ball when he should body it
I thought he was lightning quick? Haven't seen any sign of it at all
Poor judge of ball flight
Average kick at best
Doesn't have footy brain
Needs to be delisted
Dare I say it, we really miss Langdon ( the forgotten backman)

It doesn't.

But Frost at least has a couple of decent scalps under his belt over his career (Lance Frankiln being one of them) which is a bare minimum for a defender that Marsh hasn't yet shown the capability of producing.

Marsh's efforts the past few weeks haven't shown that he's any form of panacea to our backline ills.

Marsh is a young player, as is Frost. If you want Frost back in the side it will be for Brown because they are the same type. Marsh gives us more run and meters gained than Frost is capable of.

Marsh's run wasn't that apparent tonight and whatever metres gained he achieves is offset by the fact that he turns the friggin ball over nearly every time he gets it.

I'll cut him some slack because he's young(ish) but his upside better become more readily apparent sharpish because at present he doesn't look like a 50 game player yet alone one of the keystones to our next flag.

I haven't forgotten Langdon. Great first year, slightly lesser second year, injured in third year. There's a familiar Pies pattern here. He will be back in 2017, and could just surprise a few.

But this thread is about Marsh. Re his panicky football, I think he has the tools but the connection between brain and foot/hand/body is not working well. I hope the club is doing something lateral with him, like yoga or meditation or some 'calming' work. He would benefit from slowing down and coolly assessing the situation. OK, he's not Pendles or even Aish, but he needs assistance with making those connections.

I want to see us persist with marsh.

I look at brown and think it was the club who ruined his kicking. Early on they discouraged him from kicking and made him handball as much as possible. Now that the game has changed it is going to shorten his career

I think we should encourage marsh to keep having a go and hopefully he will improve

Haha..bullshit.

Frost at his worst doesn't turn it over nor make as many brain fade shit decisions as Marsh.
Hard to turn it over when you fall flat on your face every time the ball comes within 5 meters.

I was a big fan of Jonathon early simply put it he is a 'freak' but was getting frustrated with his kicking. His last two games have filled me with confidence again, has been solid with and without the footy. Build this kids tank and he could be a real gem !!

Just another one of the kids we need to get games into IMO.

Def lost pace

Can't wait for him to get the confidence in his game to run and carry the ball through congestion, stick out that left arm fend and run away with pace.

I think he needs to line up at fullback so he can run in straight lines. Bit like Matthew Scarlett.
He has the athleticism to play tall.
I am confident he will come good. Perhaps I am a poor judge but the likes of Alex Rance and Josh Gibson looked pretty ordinary when they were younger.

He has to stop his first reaction of reaching in with one arm ( like sticking you hand in a fire then pulling out because it's hot) and hesitating in a contest!
