Well with a name like Marsh and the history in WA with swampy and sons and Steve Marsh/relation to Ray Sorrell it would be a state travesty if he was drafted outside of WA whether he is A grade or not.

Maybe we could try convincing the AFL we need a state zoning concession like the Swans, which of course is all completely fair according to the AFL?

Pretty sure his old man is a cop, lived down the road from my mate. Got raised with an iron fist.

Yep ,his old man is an ex-cop,top bloke too.
He was a really well liked policeman, he could've busted me a few times for traffic infringements but said the old
"get out of here".

He now runs a couple of small businesses down margies way.

Also he played state 18s basketball for WA last year just an interesting point to add on

Sounds like he'd be a good replacement for the Kep role of KPP who isn't a KPP.
But at least Kep and pinch hit in the ruck, albeit not very well.

As has been said by others, Marsh has terrific pace and has that bit of agro that sets him apart, but he has some work to do before holding down CHF or FF for a WAFL side let alone in the AFL.

Sounds like a Morabito equivalent in terms of size and athletics, guess we will have some idea if Mora will make it back for us by the time of the draft.

Which generally is the case unless your name is Jeremy Cameron or Joe Daniher.

Guys saying he isn't a great mark, He's trying something new and needs a break.
He'd be a great get for our side and we all seem to agree on that but I believe he will turn into a Pavlich like player. Guy has tons of upside about him.

Dare I say it, he looks the perfect half forward, pushing up into the midfield for rotations.
Has anyone seen, or paid attention to, him live? How's his contested ball winning ability?

A key forward? At 191 cm probably not in the AFL but for us he could be a Mora/Fyfe/Mundy type who plays mid and rotates through the forward line.

My thoughts on him have already been stated in the U'18s thread.. he's pretty impressive, and as mentioned his ground ball ability and aggression could see him being handy in the middle. I think i read somewhere up until very recently he considered himself a midfielder? and it was more his overall bulk and maybe growing a few cm's which transferred him up forward in the last season or so?

Actually if he reminds me a bit of Jake Stringer for the dogs.. same size/shape look about him

According to the article I read, he has always played midfield and considers himself a mid, but is being played as a KPF at the insistence of one of his coaches. I don't completely buy the whole 195cm or GTFO when considering someone a viable KPF, Height makes it easier to be a KPP, but with enough mongrel, strength, athleticism and application 191-193 is plenty big enough, see one M. Pavlich.

Also an 18 year old at 191cm is every chance to finish up at 193cm.

I think we may have a realistic option of a first pick KPP!

Let's keep the hype under wrap's.

FffffAAAAAAAArrrrrrrKkkkkkk YyyyEeeeAaaHhh!!!!!!

It's the Colgate lady's grandson.

I do not mind a forward line made up of 1 genuine, mobile KPF (Pav, Tab), resting ruck, and then players like Fyfe, Mora and Marsh who are difficult match ups forward and dangerous power midfielders.

Hey guys,

Sorry to intrude and bump up this thread haha but was just doing a bit of reading up on Jonathon Marsh and this thread came up :)

Absolutely stoked to have picked him up at Pick 77, that was ridiculous !!

This guy obviously has a few flaws but has a few weapons aswell and a perfect project player ! His pace is unreal for someone his size. Quickest at the Combine and 2nd fastest in history apparently. Could compliment our Forward line of Cloke, Reid, Jesse White, Fasolo, Elliott down the track :thumbsu:

Interesting that this Phantom Draft had Scharenberg at 2 and Marsh at 5, so we did pretty well !

Wasn't too impressed with Freeman at 10 but warming to him now. Adds pace and Clearance ability, possible Dane Swan replacement down the track with Scharenberg replacing Heath Shaw/ Maxwell.

Likewise, congrats on getting Apeness, hes a beauty :) And Pearce looks real good aswell, athletic and versatile and will add to your list aswell. Not that you guys need alot of improvement to be right up there again next year.

Cheers guys, all the best for Season 2014 and cannot wait for Round 1 for us to belt the living suitcases out of each other haha :p
