GWS supporters are pretty upset with this guy. Just such a disfunctinal forward line to deal with

Err...what? I'd be happy having this guy in my team. Stoked even. Bigfooty strikes again ...
Patten? We are stoked.

Boyd? Also stoked he has found himself happy elsewhere.

The guy you traded in for Tom Boyd? Shaggy hair, currently has a bung ankle...
Yeah I am aware and know he asked to go but I think the trade was about Boyd, and he was contracted. Once that decision was made we did the brsr deal we could. Ee eanted Griffen if we could get him sure. It was him driving his leaving though.

You missed this part which started the whole conversation:

Us: We want your contracted captain

The delusion is classic. Griffen had nothing to do with the boyd trade, gws actually chose to trade boyd and he didn't have a say.

Talk anout revionist history.

Griffen wanted out. Was prepared to walk away from the game. Had a chat to his old assistant coach. Changed his mind about walking away and then nominated us as a new start.

Then got thrown into the deal as 'what about this and That'
And the 'other' was 'We'll pay half his salary for a couple of years'

No poaching at all. We never approached Griffen until after he decided to leave the dogs.

Plays his role, will have a handful of match winning performances, but I think the 2 ACL's will limit his ceiling.

I think the same injury history would hamper a guy like Cameron more.

Patton is a powerful key forward like Hawkins. He's big enough and strong enough that if his pace is a bit off he can still be a viable target. If he had shoulder recos and couldn't mark above his head like late 90s Carey then I'd be worried.

Whichever way you spin it you got a guy who bailed on his club for a guy who bailed on his club.

There isn't some paradox where GWS traded out a mercenary to maintain team unity and traded in a good bloke just looking for a fresh start who stumbled across a club that would have him.

Not sure what paradox means in this context or why you think it's relevant.

Its shame though he was big, strong and quite agile prior to the knees.

Griff had been in touch with his old mate Cammo fairly regularly over the previous year or so.

Must suck to have Kelly, Shiel, Scully etc. putting the ball inside 50.

Josh Kennedy has kicked 80 two years in a row. Must be the silver service from Priddis and Masten.
funny you say that But Kennedy in the past has noted that Masten is one player he like leading to. Mastens actually a decent kick when he has time and space. Just lack composure.

Op is spot on. Patton nowhere near worthy of #1 pick. Tex was a much better footballer in 2014 at the same age Patton is now and post his ACL.
Tex was one of those rare breeds of KPF's that came on much earlier than Most. Tex was elite by 22 but most KPF's take a few years longer to get somewhere close to their best. Patton had 2 ACL injuries early in his career and that set his development back a few more years. I really won't be surprised If patton comes on at around 26-27.

Save your time. According to most GWS posters no one from their club even spoke to Griffen all of 2014, and Tom Boyd had dinner at Peter Gordon's house every night.

They saved Griffen from retiring, and boy are they lucky they did that. He also apparently has been great for them because was getting tagged before Shiel and Treloar :$
