will go top 3, but i wasnt overly impressed with him to be honest, his positioning and use of his body for someone of his size is pretty poor.

I don't know if he's the best player in the TAC Cup in 2011, but he's the best one I've seen. The fact that he's all but a certainty to go top 3, is testament to his ability and the quality of his performances throughout the season. Clearly he has been judged a great prospect by people far more qualified than me.

I'm not jumping on the lads band wagon, but as a Rebels supporter who saw his game at Eureka Oval earlier in the season, I couldn't help but be impressed. He judged his marks well, lead into the right places and positioned himself to his advantage. He was DOMINANT in a team that was well beaten on the day.

You may well have seen him on an off day...

I think Patton's game has a lot of development left in it: he has shown capabilities that he hasn't often used in games (that I've seen him do anyway). So, with a fair bit to learn, he may take a year or three to really make his mark. However, I have no doubt he will. If he isn't at GWS come draft time, then they either know something I don't, or have no idea about recruiting.

People saying he will be ready first year are wrong IMO. Comparisons too Hawkins are partially correct, he does dominate in some part due to his size. Yet he does have all the ability to be dominant like a Drew Petrie type comparison.

He will take as much time as Jack Watts to be ready I think, although perhaps not as much time. Both players need to develop their bodies, whilst one has weight this weight needs to be refined into solid muscle, yet one needed to put on weight. Patton will have to learn how to beat players with guile and tact rather than sheer brutality as he is often use to. This will take time, and he may struggle for a while to get use to it. Jack Watts by comparison dominated U18 by using abilities so to say that would serve him better in the AFL I think, where as Patton where I think he has similar abilities relies more on power. Overall I think Patton will be the better player, as he has this power side yet it will take 3+ years to turn him into a dominant player IMO.

Based on the one Foxtell game against Vic Country i presume which was probably the worst division 1 game of the series.

His leading, positioning, hands at ground level and actual footy smarts and skill are as good or better than any big man i have seen coming through TAC in recent times other than Kreuzer.
The only real knock i have on him is his goal kicking can be 50/50.

I am not saying he will come out and kick 50 goals in his first year but he is big enough to play now and smart enough to kick a goal a game on average early on. I do not think he dominates because of his size at all, his best ability is his leading to the right spots and taking one grab marks.

I know what you are saying in regard to Watts and despite them not being the same type i agree with the development side of things. Patton will need a couple of pr seasons to see if he can become a 60 plus goal FF.

I agree with Ant.

While he is bigger, he doesn't dominate because of size. He dominates because he marks that much stronger than anyone else while Hawkins on the other hand even now relies on outmuscling his man and taking it on his chest rather than out in front because he isn't 1 grab like Patton is.

Season one Patton should play most games. Won't dominate. But will show signs of things to come. 1 goal a game is realistic.

The good KPPs usually break out come season 4 and really establish themslves. I think Patton will do the very same.

Big tragedy that GWS will get him.

Freaks like this don't come along often enough and Melbourne teams are struggling for power forwards.
Yeah a real tragedy a bit like lenny hayes a Sydney boy ending up with Stkilda, grow up it is a national sport
