Really ? Three far left women ?

Cate McGregor worked for both major political parties and was a senior member of the armed forces. She counted Tony Abbott as a close friend for many years until they had a falling out over the same sex marriage debate and his role in trying to scupper it.

Terri Butler is a stock standard middle of the road Labor politician who spends time on social media criticising The Greens for being idealists as often as she criticises the LNP. Do you think any member of the ALP is far left ? Really ?

Van Badham is a Labor party mouthpiece. She is obnoxious, but not far left. She has a libertarian bent, so may agree with JP on some issues.

Labelling 3 very different people as far left is identity politics gone mad.

Poor choice of people tobe on with JP, I would have thought with the exception of McGregor who is generally impressive speaking on a wide range of subjects.

I generally don't like Q & A as a rule anyway.

I laugh when people call Van Badham a hard leftist. She calls herself an anarcho-syndicalist but she advocates views that are milque-toast Blairite third way Labor

So how do you explain the thousands of (often very attractive) young women paying good money to hear him speak?

No one embraces the patriarchy more closely than the hot blond girls shills of the right - its a good way to be in a room of men who will in no way threaten you

I don't often find blondes attractive. The people I was referring to were "women of colour".

They obviously want to learn about serotonin in cray fish, how to sit up straight, and clean their room, and how to be a better "agent of chaos' and how they embody "nature"

Asian women are the handmaidens of white supremacy and patriarchy. Their unnatural relationships with beta white males confer greater reproductive status than said men deserve.

If we abolished interracial marriage most white men would be unmarriageable.

Thanks for illustrating my point perfectly.

I could write a full dissertation on his work and present the findings on this forum and the main response would be posters telling me I need to read/watch an additional obscure lecture of his to understand. The fact is, I don't need to have watched every lecture of his to know that most of Jung's theories about human nature were closer to astrology than science.

A rare case of a take being atomically hot and correct.

He's a combination Deepak Chopra/labotomised Jung for Incels.
And you know what, that's ok to certain degree. I've met people who were genuinely moved towards better lives or into a better state of mental health by reading Deepak Chopra. I wouldn't treat him as a great public intellectual for his books though.

So the panel for next Monday night's QandA is:

https://www.abc.net.au/qanda/

Don't know a lot about them, I think McGregor speaks well and it will be interesting if the discussion guess down the transgender path.

Badham had been ok on The Drum, but will definitely have some clashes there on identity politics.

What are people's thoughts? I'm not so much interested in the panelist beliefs as much as will there be any chance of a decent discussion?

(INB4 it's QandA of course it will be s**t)
Jordan will mow that lot down like it's roadkill.

I hope someone tells the transgender what 'compelled speech' means before she goes off on an angry sob story how-dare-you-pick-on-trans-people tangent.

Googled Van BamBam. Sounds like an absolute nutter. Oh this gonna be good.

I'm still reeling from Q&A – but not because I was called 'hysterical'

Van Badham

It's not a throwaway line, it's a simplest and clearest way to describe him. He holds political and philosophical opinions that are deranged, divorced from fact, requiring the construction of an alternative reality within his mind to explain ie. a crackpot.
Name one in context

I think it takes a particular kind of intelligent fool to disregard the Jung et al view of human psychology completely. It's only when you try to hold the scientific microscope up to those ideas that they fall down, but that's absolutely not what they are for. It's like blaming a hammer for not being able to undo a nut. Wrong tool for the job.

Thanks for putting an exclamation mark on my original point.

What you said is not a fact, it's merely your opinion.

It doesn't go against science to propose that the human mind has a long evolutionary history that might result in universal subconscious elements. But science isn't well equipped to understand what those elements might be. Science strips the world of its subjectivity which renders it missing a large part of what it is to be human.

Peterson would say you've got to accept and integrate your darker self into your whole being. Then the monster within won't present itself uncontrollably with the tosh you just wrote.

That's the road of scientism. Jung's theories either describe things in a repeatable and scientific way or you're just sitting in a haughty lecture of a man telling you you're having a bad day because you're a Pisces.

Some troon on Twitter with about 10 billion likes that said penises can be biologically female and that the concept of biology has
been appropriated by the cishet patriarchy.

Heil Jordan Peterson!

You need another guru brother - try Thich Nhat Hanh, he’s been at it for 50 years, and he does not shill a diet that kills you in order that his hopeless daughter can make a few bucks.

Jordy is a chancer and academic mediocrity who had a lucky break on a YouTube video.

If you need an academic to tell you that the feminine has always symbolised chaos and nature, the virtue of sitting up straight and of cleaning you room
- i know a few Jesuits who can guide you for nothing and they don’t have a patreon page
