Not convinced this is the best move financially.

I would have left my patreon account in place, and built another way to collect subscriptions a little farther out west. I then would have encouraged those wishing to protest against patreon to move to the new platform.

Having said that, I also would have blown all the patreon money on hookers and coke.

That's the thing you have to remember about Jordan Peterson. He doesn't do hookers or coke.

Have something in place first as you say and looked at a longer time frame.
They would drive publicity for a few months if they had an alternative to their new system whatever it is

Does anyone think he'll have the courage to debate the indefatigable Richard Wolff after stating no socialists will debate him?

Although, I got around listening to him debate Sam Harris. What a s**t show. Peterson is barely coherent in an attempt to confuse Harris. I've heard strung out coke heads who make more sense. Peterson's absurd methods of trying to justify Christianity have almost made me atheist. Harris really sounded so much more impressive.

Qhen petwrson talks about christianity and lessons from the bible i tune out. But it isnt only because of him talking about it, its when anyone talks about the bible.
Those messages he gives are a minor part of his public output and i dont think it detracts from a lot of the stuff he has articulated in a way that is understood and relatable by many.
The message is consistent and there has veen remarkably little over the last 2 years to bring hik to task on

He also blatantly lies about socialism repeatedly and history in general.

I'm sure he's probably knowledgeable about psychology but it's pretty hard to take anyone seriously who claims the Nazis were atheistic while also acting like an expert in history.

Also, if you preach being clear and concise, shouldn't you actually attempt it? He sounds like a more verbose Donald Trump in how he speaks.

Huh? Ignoring the absurdity of your paranoid far-right beliefs, what does this have to do with Peterson declining Wolff's offer to debate after saying no one will debate him?

One of the best articles about Peterson that I've read addresses these criticisms directly, and pretty much nails what I have been saying about him (maybe that's why I like it lol) - not many of the ideas he brings to the table are new or unheard of, but the popularity he has is due to his ability to take modern issues and address them with these old ideas. He says so quite clearly on different occasions. His somewhat social conservative views are based on these old ideas relating to the value structures of society, and he's one of few people around that has managed to capture an audience to hear them and bring them to people's attention again.

Regarding the helping comment - that's pretty subjective. With the amount of people who profess that he's helped, it is hard to argue that what he's saying isn't doing good. Long term, we'd just have to wait and see.
More like proof of Taleb’s ideas: the moment finds the man, the man doesn’t make the moment.

Just as idiots like Deepak Chopra happened upon an overly credulous, slightly scared and confused audience ready for their recycled, bogus mish-mash of ideas, so too the JP marketing operation.

wolff is a sook and a bore. I use one of his videos as a sleeping aid.

It's no longer fun watching Jordan mow down some dullard like it's roadkill. If we wanted to see that we already have the GQ interview.

So he shouldn't follow through on a debate with Wolff because you find him to be a sook (didn't Peterson just try to sue someone for saying not-so-nice things about him?) and a bore?

I find Peterson to be the same but I still enjoyed watching him with Sam Harris and I'd feel the same about him with Wolff if he could muster up the courage required.

I'd rather watch Chris Tavare bat for an hour.

Word on the street is the hick doesn't even have the money to cover Jordan's airfare.

Don't you marxist clowns have anyone remotely interesting? You have Karl Marx and Lee Harvey Oswald. Unfortunately, both are dead.

I'm obviously pretty late to the game but have you read the current affairs article about him? https://www.currentaffairs.org/2018/03/the-intellectual-we-deserve

It seemed to make sense of how I felt after listening to him a few times.

You should listen to Nathan J Robinson speak before you decide
I just listened to him speak. He seems kinda beta but let's be real, most of these dudes are e.g. Shapiro, Peterson and Chapo Trap House. Richard Wolff looks like he would've knocked a few honkies out in the day though.

I don't think that really detracts from what seemed like a fair article (based off what I've seen of Peterson).

I wouldn’t say beta, more like a pompous tool. How I imagine AM talks

Glad you've got yourself together.

I said nothing about myself there in that post - I fall for things just like anyone else. But this one is a biggie, and I'm happy to have dodged the bullet.

Peterson still is suing the wilfred laurier academics or the uni itself
He has addressed that in several interviews
