Traded Jordan Dawson traded to Adelaide for F1 (Melb)

If he leaves, what should Sydney get in return?

  • Two good 1st round picks

  • Top 10 pick and change

  • A 1st & a 2nd

  • Later 1st round pick

  • Two 2nd rounders

  • Early 2nd rounder

  • Other second round pick

  • Less than a 2nd rounder

Only bright side out of this deal for the Swans is just further re-enforcing the need for academies in non-traditional states.

Finlayson, M.Kennedy, Setterfield and Zac Williams were all GWS academy players who requested trades interstate. The academy system isn’t a solution to player retention issues.

Lol wtf.

why would port trade Ladhams for a future late pick (would be early 40’s pick after FA compo yeah?) from a premiership favourite in 2022 to help crows get dawson?

Who suggested it? A one eyed crows fan with a recent lobotomy? Why even bother reposting it here?
Or...
You can wait until Sydney are forced by Dawson to make a trade with Adelaide which will probably not work out well for Sydney and Port will be stuck with a player you've told is not required.
Calm down and keep looking for a win/win for everyone.

what do you think he is worth - considering Port are telling him to explore his options?
We told Chad Wingard to 'explore his options' too and we got Burton and Duursma for him. We told Hamish Hartlett to 'explore his options' and he came back to play another 5 years for the club. So don't act like suggesting that he explore his options suddenly makes him worthless.

He's contracted, so it's a buyer's market. Either somebody offers up a player who fills more of a need in our best 22 than Ladhams does, or he stays at Port. There's zero chance he gets traded for a pick in the late 30's, and there's less than zero chance we go out of our way to help the Crows get a Dawson deal done by trading out a contracted player for unders.

Like, even if a second rounder was all he was worth, if Ladhams wanted to go to Sydney, why wouldn't we just trade him directly to Sydney for their second rounder which will be a better pick than Melbourne's second rounder anyway? Why would we go out of our way to help the Crows get Dawson? It's completely unrealistic.

FWIW - that late 30's pick is likely to come back to more of a mid 30's pick after other picks are eaten up in bids for Darcy / Daicos and one or 2 others - it may end up being a pick 35. So it seems that it is only a few places off being what would then be reasonable - a mid 2nd rounder? I mean no one of sane mind would be expecting a 1st rounder for him so his value sits somewhere in the 2nd round so maybe a bit higher than what the Melbourne pick will be

Edit. also, its not like the 2 clubs (Crows and Port) have not traded with each other before in both players and pick swaps

There’s so many things wrong with this post..

How would a Adelaide / syd deadlock hurt port?

Saying we’ve told Ladhams he isn’t required is an exaggeration.

and In what reality would not trading Ladhams as part of a deal to help you land dawson mean that we couldn’t trade Ladhams if we wanted to?

Do Adelaide have filibuster rights? They’ll tie up every team in the leagues phone lines?

As a poster said above, if syd wanted Ladhams and Ladhams wanted to go then port would just deal with them.

Win/win. Now you're getting it.

Probably Dawson picks Port anyway and all this is just hot air.
Cheers

Why are Adelaide fans so much crazier than Port fans? Port fans are actually somewhat reasonable in their trade suggestions but Adelaide fans seem to be off in the clouds.

Unfortunately trade threads tend to attract our less reasonable supporters. We so rarely trade in decent players so they tend to base it off all the times we got screwed with players leaving.

maybe so - but the reporting has suggested port have put him on the trade table (see the article above). Hence why a suggestion of possible a 3 way trade IF Dawson picked the crows. Although I am sure that the other port poster complaining above thinks he is worth pick 4 and dusty martin
The reporting lol

You are basing your argument on the opinions of the dumpster diving cretins in AFL media?

Great. So instead of nominating the reasonable club Dawson nominates the club that thinks they can go into a Mercedes dealer and trade a 1998 Toyota Camry for a brand new S class.

As he is out of contract, you dont really have a leg to stand on.

I think he is worth a first rounder BUT in this case I think you will be stuck with a second rounder.
