Only bright side out of this deal for the Swans is just further re-enforcing the need for academies in non-traditional states.

Finlayson, M.Kennedy, Setterfield and Zac Williams were all GWS academy players who requested trades interstate. The academy system isn’t a solution to player retention issues.

actually that is EXACTLY how the PSD was intended to be used.

Oh no, it's pure accident that it was set up the way it is and has remained in much, if not exactly, the same format for all these years. Even though Port lost Nick Stevens to it nearly 20 years ago. I'm sure they'll get around to 'fixing' it eventually.

Well..dawson and his manager 6 weeks out from the end of the season put a 2 year extension on the table which sydney rejected and then counter proposed. Sliding doors moment as if they had accepted there and then maybe dawson would still be a swan. Then everything changed

So basically it's Gladys' fault. Hopefully she is appropriately grilled about this by ICAC.

A different trade gets done, or he stays at the Swans, and is free to move when he'a a free agent.

No, that makes no sense, you can't keep a player you don't have a contract with.

You were making sense until then.

The way you are arguing is confusing, like you don't understand fundamental employment law.

Thanks for the chat, we're not going to agree or reason with each other. Best of luck for 2022.

I'm not saying we would have kept an un-contracted player. I think he would have signed another 1-year (or 2 to take him to FA) contract with the Swans if a move to a South Australian club couldn't have been facilitated this year, and then would have likely moved at the end of that contract.

It's what happened with Ryan O'Keefe when he requested a trade to Hawthorn, but obviously he ended up staying with the club in the end anyway.

That's just not true. Crows were likely to accept the trade for pick 23 and White, but the AFL intervened.

FYI, that 'dud' player went on to play 4 less career games than Tippett from that point forward.
Totally untrue. I lived through it here in Adelaide and have spoken to a number of ex Crows officials who were involved in the whole negotiations.
Sydney offered pick 23 and White. The Crows did their due diligence and even had White in for a medical. The club decided they did not want White and told Sydney that. They went through a heap of Ex SA players to see if any of them wanted to come back but Sydney said no. Sydney told Adelaide they were aware that we had a contract with Tippet to let him go for a second rounder if he wanted to leave, so they wernt going to offer anything more. Adelaide then told Sydney that they would agree to pick 23 alone as White was on a big wage and they didn't rate him. Sydney refused to do the deal with pick 23 alone and said that there was no deal if White wasn't included.
Adelaide were so pissed because Sydney not only wanted unders for Tippet but were demanding that we also have to take on a player who was getting overs so that Sydney could fit Tippet into the cap easier.
Then it all fell down and the AFL marched in.
But that's from the horses mouth.

Your on, i look forward to death riding the franchise for 12 months. Similar to when you open up a Mcdonalds. They insist in you working there for 12 months before you start to cash in on the profits.

Evening mate

Crows win tonight means they can't finish bottom

$100 please
