Who the F doesn't think alcohol is glorious????
Good grief.
Not currently a huge fan.
Good mate of mine started drinking fairly heavily around six years ago. Recently he had a fall at home, he lay on the floor helpless for a few days before he was able to alert a neighbour. He went to hospital in an ambulance but his body was shutting down. Spent 2 weeks in ICU before he finally passed away. He was only 55.
I know people who drink more and have done so for a lot longer and I guess their bodies can handle it. And I know people who have ended up in hospital and gotten a wake-up call. My mate never had that chance - the first time he was forced to confront being an alcoholic he was stuck on a one way ticket. Big shame he wasn’t given another chance at life - being in an ICU room hooked up to a kazillion machines and looking like crap is friggen’ confronting.
Obviously that’s extreme and not representative of all experiences with alcohol. I do enjoy a drink myself from time to time. It can be enjoyable, but it can have a dark side.
