You won't, he could sign a 2 year deal that's heavily backended, then you shave salary next season.
Lol. This aged well.

Backended Collingwood. Contract.

If ever a player agent uses those three words in a sentence ever again their player would fire them on the spot

Jake (and Jesse) Stringer are a better comparison than Dustin Martin.
Jake Stringer is not a good comparison. JDG hasn't had a 50 goal year and averages fewer goals/game than Stringer.

No, he had a 48 goal year. How precious can you be?

Which is similar to Stringer's 2016. He hasn't had a season as good as Stringer's 2015 though. As it stands JDG has had his 48 goal year and only one other over 30 goals. He's worth about as much as we paid for Stringer (whom we got for unders) at best.

Hard to believe that Collingwood traded Treloar etc just to pay big money for this poor excuse of human being who should end up in jail .
They wonder why they get all the bogan jokes.

It will always happen, not going to stop. Front and back ended contracts are a must.
Yep Richmond use them like every club. Reiwoldt, Cotchin and Rance all backended contracts to get Lynch to the club so I get the importance of being flexible...but if you use them to just burn your future club greats for what Buck's ego (?) Well that's something else altogether. If everyone acts like Collingwood have done, well is that football ? Maybe I'm old school but imo good clubs are judged on how they exit players, not how they suck them in.

OK. He's had a 48 goal year. How is he not a good comparison to Stringer? Both have had great years, then dropped off 2 years later. Neither are close to Dusty which was the original point.

Stringer and De Goey are actually very good like for like comparisons. The "he hasn't kicked 50 goals" line is hilarious 😂 De Goey slightly more influential around the ground, Stringer slightly more goals. What, a player needs to average the EXACT number of goals to be comparable now??

Both are undersized forwards. Both get talked about as having this magical midfield potential without ever doing anything consistently. Both have had a standout year where they got a lot of hype re potential, but regressed significantly since. 16.8 disposals and 2.0 goals for De Goey in 2018, 14.3 and 2.5 for Stringer. They are borderline or equal for so many stats.
