If he is convicted, it’s game over.

If it was his first indiscretion and one that doesn't require Gaol Time, he might be able to ride it out, but he has built up such a bad rap sheet in only 6
years playing in the AFL, even if not convicted, Collingwood need to move him on, he just does not perform well enough constantly to make up for all the scandals and headaches he brings to The Pies.

Probably needs to get Out of the AFL/Melbourne channel and a club with a strong, disciplined culture.

Someone like a Sydney would be perfect for him IMO. Out of the spot light and into a strong culture that has been cultivated, even if they aren't playing the best footy at the moment.

The question is whether he will be able to continue his career is another question entirely.

Gonna go down as the biggest waste of talent in a while at this rate

What’s his trade value to an interstate club?

Don't even care if he goes or not. He's not the one winning us games. Our back 6 + Grundy is unrivalled in the AFL and carries our garbage key forwards and inside mids week in week out.

Will be thrilled if we can somehow turn de goey into williams.

The player we should be worried about is Darcy Moore. He's a genuine match winner - takes momentum changing pack marks in crucial times in the game, extremely good skills for a key defender, can intercept, can move forward, can even ruck. Only problem is his durability. In terms of game day, the top 3 for us are Grundy, Howe and Moore.
Completely agree. Crisp and Maynard are worth far more than De Goey imo. He's still being valued on hype/potential and a small handful of great games each year instead of consistent performances. Pies should be throwing everything at Moore, let De Goey walk and maybe try grab Williams as a free agent if there's cap room

Personally think Crisp doesn't have much value, adds a fair bit to our team, as we can flex him lock down/rebound/inside mid, especially with our inside unit being quite weak. Think Crisp is a solid B/B+ defender with one of the best durability in the game, but not just not damaging enough.

Looking at our games this year:

Midfield - Average at best, similar to last year, can flourish against weak/more outside midfields, but will get dominated against the very best (GWS, West Coast)

Ruck - Not as dominant as previous years. However, if Grundy wins 70% of the hitouts, 20 + touches and 5+ clearances in a shorter game can be considered as a win for the opposition ruck. Then, that says more about Grundy's standards nowadays than that specific performance.

Forwards - Huge weakness. Sad cause it was a key strength a year or two ago. We have about 4-5 small/mid forwards with the potential to just take over the game. De Goey/Elliot has been playing a lot more up the ground, so only Stephenson has shown some glimpses only.

Defence - Has been carrying us for close to 2 seasons. Moore is one of the most damaging CHBs in the game, similar to Ben Reid in his AA year. Elite footskills and intercepting ability as an offensive key defender, a consistent match winner. With Roughhead being a reliable lockdown defender, Howe and Maynard are rebounding/intercepting threats you can't leave unchecked, they're strong defensively as well.

If we can get Williams, personally I'd add him to our midfield as a permanent member. We have too much depth down back and he's highly underrated as a midfielder.

I think Sydney should go after De Goey. They’ve got the assets to get a deal done with plenty of cap space and draft picks.

Would probably be a good fit for him. Out of Vic spotlight, Swans got the cap and trade currency. But so much to play out.

Might not end up being on any list next season 🤷‍♂️

Reckon he may have played his last game as a Pie (surely he cannot be allowed to still play whilst still under this charge)
If it goes to court, it probably won't be for a year or more. He can't be expected to sit out that long, other players on charges haven't.
Not sure how he will go signing a contract with this looming. A one year contract is all he can hope for.

Apparently there’s no rule in place for the AFL to stand down players facing serious charges. NRL has the rule in place but you must be facing 11 years or more. According to Tom Morris. Apparently Degoey charge has a maximum of tens years prison.

Feels like his career is spiralling out of control, like Fev did in his final years at Carlton/Brisbane.

Now granted this sexual assault charge happened way back in 2015, and from what I hear, doesn't come close to what that P.O.S Milne did, but at the very least, this latest scandal will cost me a big pay day and lengthy contract (at this point)

Really hope that he is found not guilty though, would be a shame if such a talent to lost to the game, but if it is proven he has done what is alleged, he deserves whatever comes his way (punishment wise)

Can't see the Pies playing him for a while at any rate.

Feel desperately sorry for Nathan Buckley, when was the last time a coach had to put up with so much bullshit/controversy in such a small amount of time (Lumumba's claims of racism/homophobia, Sidebottom's drunken antics, poor Howe's likely season ending injury and now this)

I fail to see how The Pies could actually reasonably expected to have won last Friday Night's game if we weigh up all the distractions and obstacles Bucks had to overcome..

Pies impatient fans should cut him some slack.

Surely he needs to be presumed innocent until proven otherwise. If he misses a year of footy and ends up in the clear it would be unfair on him and club
Powell Pepper got suspended by the AFL for 3 games on the back of an allegation with nothing to back in up, if thats the standard you measure by then no he wouldn't get to play until this is over.
