The way the week was unfolding it was highly unlikely he would be playing purely with all the smoke and noise still around.
So no, he didn’t.

Next week onwards however is a different matter

Seriously? He was due back at training this week, was even given an extension till Wednesday. Was expected to be running out tomorrow with the team. How could you see his non-attendance as anything but letting his team mates down?

Too late - the supply of oxygen to Jordy’s brain was cut off some time ago.

Terribly harsh. Perhaps I laughed.

Sometimes it takes a while.

Didn't come easy for me, but I have now arrived at the best version off myself.

A friend has a theory. You need a mix of your non tatts players (the non dickheads) e.g Moore and Pendlebury and you tatts players (dickheads) e.g De Goey/Martin etc. Similar to what you say. All players with tatts you cant win neither a team with non tatts. needs balances which is also different characters.
I've always thought I'd be Collingwood til I die, but maybe I'd turn for a team of 22 berserkers. How good would they be to watch?

Hmmmm, your beer looks like tepid catpiss. I think you can expect some heat about the lack of IPA in your life. I guess it just means you haven’t quite found your best yet.

Australian aid funding likely paid for it compounding the problem.
I doubt it. Here's some of Telstra's handiwork in South East Asia.

Technically not their work, but they did win a tender for the plan in Vietnam by undercutting the companies who wanted to go underground. Great when a truck is too high and rips down the whole streets connection. Or when your internet slows right down because someone climbs the pole in the middle of the night to splice your cable to get their internet for free.

Yeah…..you’ve missed the point altogether.

If we want to win.

It’s mostly the bad boys that get the job done. When the s**t hits the fan. They’re the ones who do the extraordinary.

You can scold them. You can try and curtail their natural behaviors. But at the end of the day. They have to be who they are to have success.

Ackerman is was done and they’d won their flags. Buddy was on his last strike. And they’d lose him if he failed another drug test. Hall got cut after the flag. Dev got hounded out like DeGoey. For the most part they were all used for what their natural instincts were to win their teams Premierships.

I can’t explain it to people who think that competitive sport is played by nice people. You have to be a killer. Lines get crossed. And it’s those that are will to do what it takes to win that succeed. Some can control that instinct outside and some can’t. And to expect them to curb it is absolutely folly. Especially if you understand what it is to be in that situation.

Bailey Sniff doesn’t point to his vein because his a nice wholesome kid. He doesn’t headbutt Thouy by chance. It’s because he thrives on the adrenaline that’s produced when he is at his most uncompromising. And that’s what gets him to play the way he plays. That’s his nature. Now when it comes to his personal life he is trying to find that same feeling. DeGoey at his best is the same. Uncompromising. Both strike me as not too bright. So asking them to tone things down is a kin to asking Samson to cut his hair. You may not like the outcome. Just as DeGoey’s response to the forced apology. He is done now.

The AFL have been trying to change this for the best part of 2 decades with the amount of support and education these players are getting. From when they are drafted to continual internal processes and programs to make them better. As to the social norms and acceptable societal behaviors. Yet we still have the same things happening. Every year there are players behaving badly. And no one seems to understand why this is STILL happening.

I know one things is certain. We can’t have 11 Pendebury’s and 11 Moore’s in the team.

If a team is going to win games of footy, the players need to be disciplined.

Disciplined to stop when the umpire blows their whistle, stand the mark and not wave their arms around. ‘cause if they don’t, they’re giving away a 50 and that’s not good for winning games of footy. Sure, you can hate on the AFL for making things that way, but welcome to 2022.

Disciplined to follow team orders. Because no player ever in the history of the VFL / AFL - no matter how good they were - won a game against 18 men by themselves.

Disciplined to prepare themselves for gameday. Beer and pizzas isn’t going to win a game of footy against the stuff the dietician prescribes.

Disciplined to rehab. Because nobody ever won a game of footy from rehab.

Disciplined to not thump some twerp on the field who totally deserves it. Because nobody ever won a game of footy from the sidelines.

Yeah, of course all successful teams need their enforcers, their players who play on the edge. We’ve got Maynard and Adams. Both of them have crossed the line at times along their journey. But for them, it’s about learning where that line is, then going back over to the right side of it, and being able to get closer to it. That’s discipline.

As for DeGoey, he had his face plastered across the front pages of the papers for spending the night in the lockup in NY. And six months later he’s flying to Bali and happily getting himself filmed doing things that were always going to get him on the front pages of the paper again. In a friggen‘ FA contract year!!!

That’s not bad boy. That’s not cunning like a wolf.

That’s undisciplined.

And just plain moronic.

This has put the club in a difficult position.

It's unlikely that Degoey's manager will accept behavioral clauses in the next contract

We could end up spending $800k a year on a player that the AFL forces us to fire to protect the image of the game and have more salary cap issues.

I would like to retain him but I think he would be a better player at a club like Richmond or Geelong who have older, gritty leaders that he'd probably be afraid to cross.

With all due respect to Pendles, Sidey, Grundy, Howe and Moore who are all excellent players.... they don't have the aura that makes players fall in line ...

Wouldn't surprise me if he ends up at one of these clubs. They'd probably win a couple of flags with him in their aging midfields.

McRae's role in this is going to be super important. If he can't connect with Degoey, I can't see us keeping him.

I meant before that

Did he say cut? You did.

True.

But what are the other options?

Last chance or he’ll get suspended? (Wouldn’t mean that, ‘cause he’s already served club suspensions)

Last chance or he’ll get kicked out of the lotto syndicate?

Last chance or he’ll be banned from mad Monday?

There appears little chance you will cease thinking up different ways to express your disapproval of Jordy. Chapeau!

The club’s response was way over the top. All that was required was a statement reaffirming Collingwood’s commitment to respect for women and an acknowledgment that further education and support for De Goey.

He should have been fully supported and protected to return to the club for training, and should be playing today.

Instead we decided to condemn him, effectively labelling him as an abuser of women. This is despite the fact that the footage was stolen from Remy’s account without consent, and she herself stated categorically that no offence was caused.

The club have alienated De Goey and he will quite rightly walk at seasons end.

Just read an article saying that JDG is fuming at the club and unhappy at Collingwood according to his manager and even the manager has doubts about him being at the club next year

Fair question I haven't been able to find the article either. I would like to read it because it doesn't seem to reconcile with the video of Jordan saying how sorry he was.

The implication, if the article is accurate, is that he was just mouthing those sentiments of remorse but he didn't actually believe it and his real views are he's angry at the club for not supporting him. If so, what was Jordys motivation for making the sorry video?

There are plenty of folks jumping to JDG’s defence without me needing to …

… but FWIW …

… I don’t think his original press release was too far off the money. I think a footballer in his break should be free to fly away to Bali with his consenting partner and play hanky panky in a nightclub.

I’ve asked several times in this thread - and nobody has been able to answer - how did that video get into our hands?

Because if it came from JDG opening his favourite social media channel and pressing the “video” button … then that’s self destructive behaviour, pretty stupid, and fair game for the media to go to town on.

But if it came from her videoing a keepsake and then uploading it to her channels … then I think it’s rotten that we live in a society where that goes anywhere beyond a scandal thread in some corner of the internet, and the mainstream media choose to pick it up and amplify naughty behaviour to hysterical moral outrage.

But, hey, if we choose to live in a world we want to be in, rather than live in the world we are actually in, we have to accept that there will be consequences.

But why would Jordy care about appeasing the mouth breathing journos?
That’s a very good question. And if he’s walking why make a video at all?

Even now I think that cfc should come out and support him in a more forceful way. They’ll need to do something to stop his next training session (if there is one) being a massive media circus.

All about protecting his future net worth imo. Including not scaring off other suitors… who were there before this debacle.
It hasn’t been written anywhere, but this is effectively jordy vs our female board members, who wanted him out after the NY incident. IMO they now feel vindicated after Bali, and would be coming down hard on the clubs admin to have a zero tolerance approach and quite likely sever ties with jordy and protect the clubs brand moving forward.
