Its a pretty simple equation now....we do everything possible to match the Franklin offer, if he still wants to go......its through a trade!
We cannot allow him to go for nothing!
Let's be clear, if we can't match his offer, only the club courting him will be able to do so, hence he will leave for nothing.

Time to start chasing Daisy Thomas for mine.

Hypothetically, if Buddy does decide to go and we can't match the offer from the other team, could Buddy still demand or at least strongly request that they trade with us for him? I suppose the other club would just tell him to take it or leave it...? Just trying to wrap my head around all these rules and different scenarios. I can't even begin to fathom the thought of losing Buddy for absolutely nothing.......

Great news on Lewis :thumbsu:. Hoping Hodgey has a big year, but it's hard not to see Lewis as captain soon.

Great news and hopefully considering he's great mates with Budweiser, hopefully this sets a great example to the big fella

Buddy better be careful, the more guys we sign, then less in the remaining pool

Wrong
Money would be set aside for all players out of contract, including Buddy
There's always some left for "wriggle room", and that is what possibly would dry up the more players sign before Bud

I wonder if it would also be of more concern for blokes like Ellis, Osborne and Bailey (not getting contract offers settled early) in that if they don`t have any runs on the board early they will find themselves getting lower and later offers than expected or becoming the fall guys for more wriggle room cash for Buddy..

Lets be clear...What part of everything possible don't you understand ? If that means trading away some players then so be it!
He is worth 2 first rounders, getting nothing for him is unacceptable.

Lewis = Gun = Loyalty = Future captain = Club legend

Hodge and Mitch are'nt going anywhere, not concerned about them at all.
If Buddy decides to go after stating he wants to be a ONE CLUB player i will be pissed, but if his hearts not in it, we don't want him anyway. It's thats simple. ALWAYS HAWTHORN BUDDY ? Make it happen.

You'd think they'd fix this in their other article about this years free agents:

EXPOSURE: Danger signs for Hawthorn, which not only has its best player out of contract, but arguably four of its best six players as free agents. Hodge and Mitchell will stay, but Jordan Lewis is out too. Someone would offer him $700K plus to move given his leadership and grunt. Roughead is out next year, as is Cyril Rioli. Birchall and Sewell are out in 2015.
This was actually in the same article as the one about him re-signing. Typically crapola.

Oh boy no way!
Couldn't handle that flog at Hawthorn
The past couple of seasons he's really improved and mellowed out
He no longer has that aura of arrogance about him, and is probably collingwoods best "team" player (perhaps with the exception of pendlebury)

Would have him at hawthorn in a heartbeat
