Jordan McMahon

It seems our chances of getting some of the Bulldogs prime new talent, may be wishful thinking on our behalf.
However Jordan McMahon, who was tonight dropped from the Bulldogs side, appears to be at the crossroads of his career.
Hasn't developed (game, and physically), and may at the end of the year be trade bait.
Is he the sort of player that we would be interested in, and would the move home, be good for his footy?

I suggested this at the trading period last year. What I like about McMahon is his genuine pace and good height Has good skills. There is a down side. He is not hard at it, in other words he is a bit soft IMHO. Now this might be because he doesn't have a body to throw around and is not confident when it comes to going in hard.

I wouldn't mind him at the Crows. I can see him being the attacking HBF or a crumbing forward. With time he might move into midfield. It will all depend on how much it would cost us in terms of trade currency. If he is at a reasonable price I would get him. He has more upside than someone like Doughty or Skipworth.

I reckon he would be just about the perfect specimen of a mockable Crows trade, but thats just my opinion. He is the South Australian version of Michael Stevens.

Yes his pace is an attraction.
What would you think he is worth?

Stiffy, can't fault Doughty's contribution in the last couple of weeks, other than perhaps his defensive action.

Has pace....but I'm not convinced he's really what we need.

Cam Faulkner would be a great get for the Crows. Genuine midfilder/forward pocket with sharp skills.

Other than Cam, we need some midfielders with some muscle to help out Roo. No more sknny blokes or short people!

As I said pace is his major attraction.
I wouldn't think he would be worth much. Maybe a 3rd rounder

I am not faulting Doughty's contribution. I am saying that McMahon might be a better long term option than Doughty. McMahon is 21, Doughty is 25. Doughty has been solid in the absence of Goody but he is no where near his 2002 form.

Anyone here watch the Bulldogs vs. Kangaroos game last weekend?

If you did, the fact that young Jordan has been dropped from this weeks game against the Bombers will come as no surprise.

T'was in the last quarter, if memory serves, against the Roos, Jordan was moving backwards with the flight of the ball, it was a must win ball, he had to go back with authority and take an over-head mark.

Instead Jordan went backwards with tiny baby steps, stuck up a feeble hand, pulled his head so far downwards he could nearly blow himself, cringed downwards with his shoulders, and merely touched the ball as it went through to a Roo, who cleaned up and kicked a goal.

Those who remember Donald Dickie's effort against Scott Wynd, would be horrified by Jordan's 10 times worse bail out.

All the skill and pace on earth will never compensate for a fragile heart.

Players always hear footsteps when playing footy, Jordan heard elephants, and what is worse, there was no-one there to crunch him.

I would HATE it if he came to Port

I did watch that match, and saw the incident you're referring to.

No doubt that's why he got dropped - it was less than impressive, wasn't it.

We don't need Jordan McMahon.

If he is delisted you may think about putting him on the list with your last draft pick, which we will have a lot of I would imagine

I agree too. Can't say I'm that excited about McMahon that would rank him high on our recruiting list.

AFC's priority should be trying to offload some of the numerous wingman/flankers before adding others.

Like everyone, I wouldn't mind his pace and his delivery into the F50. If the price was right, I'd go after him, possibly as part of a player swap, rather than for picks.

He has a low priority in trade week.

I think this is a good point - he's a nice second piece as part of a larger trade.

the challenge for us is that our list has been losing value the last few weeks - the shine that might have been on McLeod's or Goodwin's in the past has now worn off ...

We need to ensure we keep our early picks, no matter what ...

That would be right - recruiting another small running player fits in very well with the James Fantasia School of Recruiting for the Crows. What has been the Crows weakness since 1999 - lack of tall strong marking forward, gorilla defenders and ruckman who can mark more than once a game. They have started to rectify that with watts and Krueger this year but they need more tall timber not small running players.

True, but we also need a good inside midfielder or 2 as well!
