A lot of players need to prove themselves in finals. It's where many current players have turned to water.

No disagreeing with any of that. All correct.

Also reasonable to assert that those "water" players like Murda, Stewart, Kolo, Menegola et al have probably displayed their best form to date, and should they carry it forward the water tag might get shed.

I'll show myself out.

Not sure you can through Stewart in there as a player that goes to water in finals.... given that it is his first season and all.... :D

Towelled up in a GFL Granny, according to someone on twitter.

I still think this idea of big game players is part of Mark O'Connors appeal, as he was BOG in 3 of his 4 Gaelic finals.

I wouldn't have Stewart in that group. I don't recall the last time he played in a final.
Certainly Blicavs, Guthrie, Menegola, Kolo, Smith, Motlop, etc. are the players who need to prove they can handle finals pressure. I swear, if I see Blicavs miss a simple mark or shirk a contest because the pressure has gotten to him in a final again...

Clearly Stewart did not..

I grouped him in the "hes not a star and could go to water" group. ( IMO he'll be fine but thats not important).

Quality source.....

Murda the missile became the mouse last night..

I know he got hurt at one point but of all the times to fail to launch.

The gulf in performance between good and bad is back to wide open again. Best to hope for is that he gets it back next week - so he can cave the week after.

He earned the credits for his last 6 weeks or so - and the whack he's getting now for vapourising again was well earned.

Its a good lesson in just how endemic our problems really are. We all know how severely limited a footballer Jordan is. That is not going to change. Ten years ago, you wouldn't have been able carry a player like Jordan in a premiership team, a good 07-11 comparison would be Tenace. He was never close to selection in any of the flag teams. He was a 23-30 player. In todays mediocre competition, I reckon you can carry 2-3 of Jordan's type in a Flag team, but no more. We have as many as 6-8, at least, in that realm, in our best 22.

The fact we all got excited that a severely limited footballer (with what 80-90 games?) was starting to show some physical intent, and application to the footy basics, shows just how poorly we are coached, and how far off it we are.

Murda is not even in discussion when there is a spot up for grabs this week... given his contract expires at the end of the year, is his time at the club finished?

I would say so and if it were up to me, he’d be gone. Lots of younger players have passed him and offer more in the long term.

Nope. He’s played A heap
Of senior footy the last 2 years and mostly aquits himself well. He’s never gonna be a elite top liner - and unfortunately, bigfooty has decided there’s only 2 kinds of acceptable players in a list. The youngster who could be a star, and the actual star. So cockatoo and Parfitt and Fogarty are ok. Cos they still MIGHT be stars. But if they turn 25 and haven’t become elite, even if they are good honest role playing senior players, they’ll become whipping boys. Because most nuff nuff supporters have zero Idea on what makes a club list. No side has 25 stars. Richmond are a great case in point. They’d be crazy to Trade a 25 Year old 6ft3 versatile 100 gamer who can come in and play a role adequately.

We should have traded him 5 years ago, he could have built a very solid 10-game career at Carlton.
There's still time, we just need to send him to a meeting with SOS wearing a charcoal and orange polo and he won't be able to offer us a deal quick enough

It's not that he's not a star, that's not the issue. It's that he's a liability and turnover merchant. That's the problem. Especially in defence. Your point with Richmond is moot - sure their bottom six aren't amazing but they also aren't liabilities in the way Murdoch is.

I reckon they are going to keep Murda as a filler.
More likely to let the likes of Thurlow, GHS and Black go, along with Hayball and Gardner.
If it were up to me I'd let GHS, Black and Murda go to be truthful.
I think we should be asking Thurlow to work to get back to the pure talent he was before his ACL.
I reckon he can seriously play.
Won't be offered enough to let him go, but still think they will
Murda might be here until he retires judging by how he is considered by CS

He’s far from a turnover merchant. Like all Middle of the road players be sometimes missed a target. But to say he’s a turnover merchant is sensationalistic and just incorrect

He was actually. Not in the clubs tweets but in the discussion of possible inclusions Scott does mention Murdoch.
