Thanks Roughy. One of my faves, always gave his all and represented the jumper with pride. After the watching the retirement speech in front of the group it's clear he is a well loved figure.

Seemed like he'd played for us forever after about 5 games such was the ease with which he settled in to the team. Good player, great clubman, sad to see him go. A shame we don't get a final game to say goodbye properly.

When I went to training a coupe of years ago, he was super nice, especially to a kid with a broken arm. Great guy. And boy do we need Keane back....

Both of our clubs were privileged to have him on our teams. He gave his best and we thank him for it.

He was advised about 6 weeks ago to retire due to the shoulder. He’s been struggling with the call.
MSD is coincidence.

What a great guy Roughie is!. So selfless.

We couldn't have won our 2016 Prelim final without him. He played fabulously with an eye injury.

Once again he has shown his class and selflessness. His retirement now, allows you guys to take 2 players in the mid- season draft.

You don’t get a payout unless the injury is defined as career ending. I think he’d have a hard time convincing anyone that a broken finger qualifies for that!

Better to be "forced into medical retirement" than naturally retire at the end of the year.

I suspect the AFL will have to foot his future medical bills and pay him out now.

That’s my thought, nothing wrong with that. I don’t begrudge him. Has been a great contributor in his time at the club.
