I dont think Carlton supporters would be bagging Egan if we netted this bloke as projected by many other "fantasy drafts" with our pick 25.

Happy with Russell & the pies have also got a highly rated player in Egan.

I do see where some posters are coming from in questioning his selection over guys like monfries / wood / bate etc....
But saying that I'll place my faith in Pagan, thankfully he know a lot more about the caper than most / everyone on Big Footy.

I saw every game Russell played for West's league team and many of his junior games. He played exclusively on a wing and was excellent. Kicked some goals, is pacy, can play. Doesn't remind me of Brennan at all.

I was thinking the same thing. I've seen neither of them play, but please, let me tell you my opinion...

That's Online fora for ya...

For many of these punters football is very much 'a state of mind'...

And its a state with a dearth of freeways and an overabundance of no through roads...

As the old song goes... "We're on a road to nowhere"

James Davies had great pace, was 6'3 and also quick off the mark. Pity he couldn't play!
But he was drafted with Ted - late-ish.

Same school team... same U/18 team?

Sheedy's all about development - so is Pagan.

However, Russell is not a project player, he just needs a bit more weight on him and he's there - no questions asked.

Lay off my mate FIGJAM , were ok now.
On woey, he obviously doesnt know what hes talking about.
Buckley is a good player so is Kouta. The brownlow makes no difference otherwise youd be saying Wilson and Teadale as well as Woewoeful are / were guns.

Tarrant has never kicked the sheer amount of goals Fev does. So how he can be better or more effective god knows.
Clement 29ish . Thornton 21 and played over 50 games as a key position defender.
Burns old and past it Stevens ********s on him .I doubt one AFL supporting neutral would take Burns over Stevens.
Rocca isnt the biggest kick., Fev is .. he kicks more goals outside 50 .
Rocca and Whitnall had similar season (both did F/A)
You dont have a Walker, Waite or Norman (Fast talls who can seriously play)
You do have a Dane Swan though.

I cant wait till the footy starts again. It will be great to beat you another 2 out of 2. :D

How did you accurately measure that your collective IQ (a non tangible item) is bigger than a planet (a tangible item)?
Comparing IQ's and planets is like comparing Whitnall and Buckley. No point at all.

We have a a Walker. He has done as much as Laurie's mate Stormin Norman. Didak and Cole will be gun midfielders and Rowe will become at worst a good midfielder with a long career.
Fast talls who can seriously play? Have you ever heard of Chris Tarrant? The fastest leader in the comp. I agree he doesn't kick enough goals, but in 2003, his last season that wasn't heavily interupted by injury, he lead the competition in scoring assists. He is not greedy enough as far as goal kicking goes. We should have Davidson as a regular player if he didn't screw up his knee two years in a row. He is almost a clone of Tarrant but a bit smaller.

I can't tell if that is supposed to be a shot at Dane Swan, or is a genuine remark. Dane Swan is nothing special but a good servicable player. If you are taking a shot. I remember round 22 when he beat Whitnall in just about every contest in the first quarter. Whitnall would eat donuts bigger than Dane Swan.

Thornton is a good young player but is not in Clement's class not to mention they are 2 different players. Thornton is a kpp and Clement is a medium sized defender who can take tall forwards if necessary.

First off Jordan Russell and Luke Brennan are two different types of players so how can you compare them?

Jordan Russell has impressed me no end with his pace and disposal by foot, he looks a very likely type and Carlton should get great reward from him.

Luke Brennan is not quite a KPP but will have to play there because his tricks are limited, I would like to see the kid succeed but Im not quite certain of him.

I think the biggest mistake (other than the Hawks bypassing Tambling, and the Dogs taking another big project who cant kick and has no footy smarts at 6) is Collingwoods decision to take Chris Egan at number 10. His temperament, consistancy and mindset for AFL senior footy doesn't fill me with confidence. The two times he turns it on a season isn't enough for me to qualify as a top 10 selection. Then again Egan would of been Melbourne bound had Collingwood not taken him, I think Melbourne are the fortunite ones out of this with Mattew Bate a ripper of a footballer and still very young!

We will all see what this draft crop is made of in 3 years time so until then, let us all discuss our own opinions ;) :D

Brennan still needs to work on his pace, like the physical part of his game but he needs to make more contests, hasn't really done alot wrong with limited opportunities but big year needed this year i'd suggest. If Russell's a similar player then he probably went a touch too high in draft.

he's not a similar player thats the point.

russel is more like andrew walker ... he's not an undersized ff/fb like brenan was in juniors.
