We don't need Tyson Goldsack? No, of course we don't...

Why on earth would we need a young defender who actually stood up last season, Collingwood were without Clement for most of last season, who stood up? Goldsack and Harry O'Brien, why oh why with our defensive problems wouldn't we want Goldsack?

If Jordan just found the ball more then he'd be fine. He has the speed and he's got the skill. Why doesn't he get more of it? Theres nothing more fustrating than knowing someone has the components of a good footy player but can't put it together.

I understand what you're saying but truth is Russell's build has never been the issue. Yes he was skinny in Year 1, as you'd expect for a young player, but we were all raving about him having bulked up last year.

Biggest issue is - Why cant be find the ball?

Build isnt really the issue with him, its whether he has the footy nous to find the ball. I dont think him being moved around helps, but equally I dont think hes worthy of a half forward flank in our team where Fish, Hartlett, Edwards, a resting mid or two + Betts, Fev and Cloke could also perform the role so much better.

using top draft picks on receiving outside types is a risk IMO, draft players with a natural instinct to find their own footy....outside running types should be picked up with later picks...ie kade simpson

as i said months ago...... russell=sporn

Pendlebury anyone??:p But statistically speaking I would guess you are probably on the money.

speed??? where speed, he aint slow, but he definently aint quick.

Skill??? average kick, not a bad kick, but just average. i can tell during the warm ups, because its the only time he can get a kick.

So to all you so called Carlton Faithful supporters who are sticking up for him, this kid isnt younger anymore and even though his 21 i dont consider him to be. he has 22 games to prove that he is a 1/4 decent...or its good bye charlie, and if his not gone, i'll make sure he is!

Quick enough to run down Nathan Krakouer the other week.

whether his quick or not makes no difference the guy simply has a long way to go before he should even be considered for the Carlton side. We are going to be a better side this year therefore players will have to earn their spots...none of this "he was a pick 9" we have to play him!

Trade Bait ?!?!

Only in 2006 - Port wouldn't give up more than Pick #39 for him !!

It's a Kepler Bradley situation all over again this time ... its our problem :(

Pick 39 in the Superdraft could have got you the following:

Nathan Krakouer
Bachar Houli
Kyle Reimers
Robert Gray
Tyson Goldsack
Justin Westhoff
Aaron Edwards
David Rodan

All of which are better than Russell. Retrospect is an amazing thing when it comes to drafting :(

whether his quick or not makes no difference...
It makes a difference to the claim above that he isn't quick.

Lest anyone think I reckon Russell is untouchable, that's not the case. He has gone missing in each game so far, and when you're acting CHF, that's not good enough.

Whether dropping is the answer or not, I'm less sure. This is practice game season, I'd rather persevere with the likelys and sort out their issues now than give up and leave them for another day when the replacement might not be any better.

Now is the time when guys like Russell should be showing something, they should be really out to prove that they are worthy of round 1 selection. The nab cup is there to hopefully see guys like this develop not for guys like Fevola, Stevens, Scotland etc to show us what their worthy of, because we all not what there capable of doing.

With Russell it is different he has been given too many good enough chances and if he hasnt shown anything. If he cant at least show something before round 1, tell me why he deserves to be in the side for???

He has shown nothing and doesn't deserve to be in the team!
