Was my pick in the "Wont make it" thread...hope he proves me wrong.

Did ok last week.....but he should be looking for more now...lets see how he goes over the next few weeks.

I hope he turns it on and sticks it right up ya!

Nah Seriously everyone on here hopes all our players do well. I like the look of him, he seems to be getting better and better with every game. I hope they don't start him as SUB

If there is a late change, I think the incoming emergency would be the logical sub.

I think Schroder has looked promising, and deserves a bit longer to show his wares.
But to add some further perspective, a new player should have better stats in a team 2nd on the ladder than in a team 12th (2001) on the ladder - especially if he's playing on the ball and FP.

Love a bit of perspective!

I suspect those predicting Schroder's demise are wide of the mark. I reckon the club would be very happy with his progress to date and he fills a clear "need" beyond the Ling/Corey/Kelly years.

Schroder is from Sturt? He played for the Calder Cannons where his family are, and wasn't chappy from Oakleigh Chargers?
I think Schroder is a typo as GHS is from Sturt - Schroder was definitely a cannon,

As we know on here CE , some expect the proverbial FlashBang , not the slow burn. My opinion has changed little on him , this year he needed games to become accustom to the level , to become confident that he belongs. When the chance came he need to become somone who could influence a moment or two in the game. As with most players they have their ups and down as they reach for the next rung on the career ladder and yes he has taken longer than some. To convince some Jordan needed to come in at some stage this year make a contribution/to have an impact. Job don in my opinion.

While his 1st game was quiet , he has improved every time out. He is now having an impact on the score board , taking strong looking marks , earning repeat games - not being given anything. Id dare anyone to say he should be delisted now. Say it and look foolish

That's the first thing that struck me.

It all depends if they can stay on the right path, have got the desire and dedication, and are surrounded by like minded team-mates. And that's why I don't like to think we will get in young talented but troubled types. I don't think a club can afford too many of those.

Schroder looks like he has the talent. Caddy more so, but he needs to learn the Geelong way. And boy does that make a difference!

Chappy's from Fawkner, so somehow that made him a Cannon, even though the Calder goes nowhere near Fawkner.

Chapman and Schroder were definitely Calder U18.

With regards to the disposals and marks, it should also be noted that as a team, we average more than 10 more marks and 80 more disposals per game in 2013 than we did in 2001. Per player, the mean was 13.24 disposals in 2001 and 16.94 in 2013. Chapman is actually closer to the mean disposals from 2001 than Schroder is in 2013 (without allowing for tonight).

He's a Cannon... B&F winner Cam Guthrie, first runner up BT's love child (Dion Prestia), second runner up Schroder. Not sure what to make of his game tonight - I fear it may be the materialisation of what I always suspected. Having said that, it would be remiss of me to throw it in... IWWT. 1092947_1_O.jpg

Schroder did not perform that well last night - and will only stay in the team if we have no one to come back in.

Suspect Smedts may come back in and an outside chance Stringer may get a sub role. If that is the cae and we do not rest anyone - (maybe Selwood or Hawkins if Pods is good to go) then Schroder may be back in the VFL next week.

If Caddy or GHS were available they would get games ahead of him IMO.

Still looks ok to me - but with a really tight list who knows ?

Stringer is way better than Schroeder IMO....hopefully he will get a game this week...he's hard, tough and relentless...just what we need in close. And he's got a bit of pace too....been waiting all year for him to get a run.....lets hope he gets a bit of the pill.

The important thing about Stringer is that he can play both inside because of his toughness and footy nous (his ability to get through traffic with the ball) and outside because of his pace.
I suspect, despite his below par effort last round, that Schroder will get at least one more go, and he'll need to make the most of it; but if he is dropped this week, he really faces a huge task to play well enough in the 2nds to force his way back in and save his Geelong career.

I just don't get some of the comments. He is a young player who will be up and down. A little up one week , a little down the next. Of course he can not have a heap of games with zero output before being returned to the VFL but for mine he doing just fine. The number of kids on our list means he may not get more than a handful if he doesn't grab his chance but he is tracking nicely for mine.

Unless I'm miss-reading it some are saying he will be delisted? How anyone could say he will be delisted before others on our list mystifies me. Will Stringer get a game soon , I hope so.. for his sake. Its not heard of of promoted Rookies to be delisted a year after making the list. If Schroder needs to keep his head above water , so does some one lucky to still be at Geelong. No different for Cowan or McCarthy or any other kid on the list. Already said enough on Hartman and he is the young on our list.

Would we trade Schroder. Possible I suppose . The right deal comes along. A high need becomes obvious that makes us become proactive. For instance Frawley wants out of Melbourne and likes what he sees at Geelong. Melb says Schroder and Stringer and a pick were the price , Id probably do it.

we would all, well most, do that deal and run.

not sure melb would want it though.

True but my point was that Im not that blind with faith in him that I wouldn't pull the trigger for the RIGHT deal. Im not really sure were Melb goes or what they need to get..that they can get. One hell of a mess and I can't say Id enjoy trading anyone there atm

melbourne's list management (trading and drafting) has been deplorable.

they should tell neeld that he is safe for the remainder of the year (which i think they have) and just play all the kids on the list for the season. find out what you have and dont have.
