Agree with most of what you are saying but the 100 he made in the first inning of the shield final was FANTASTIC. May have had a couple of chances but batting was tough on the wicket, a lot tougher than Boof thinks. No team scored faster than 2.6 for an individual inning and the only reason we made more than 300 was due to Silks and Cossies opening stand.

As for the other ton well the only other bloke to ton up in that match was a certain RT Ponting, I think he went okay.

Still great start to a career, but thats all it is, a start.

it was slow but slow is not necessarily tough. scoring wasnt easy but occupation was.

ill give him credit though, shield final, big stage and took the most of his chances. has a savage pull shot to boot with a solid front foot game.

a lot of guys look like this at shield level though, lets embrace his start but be circumspect about his prospects.

IIRC Marcus Harris made 158 off 300 odd on his debut against Queensland. Hasn't set the world on fire after that although he did play some very fine innings' this year. Too early to be sending Silk off on an Australian A tour, need to see how he goes next year, great start to his career though.

Christ, you can be circumspect about a batsman's potential without degrading what was a very, very good knock. He's a long way from Test ready, but it was a very good knock that said a lot about his character as a batsman.
