Xerri took a grand total of 2 marks against us, both uncontested.
Grundy took a grand total of 1 mark, also uncontested.
Lloyd Meek too a grand total of 0 marks.
Rowan Marshall, 3, none contested.
Sam Draper had 2 marks both contested, Nick Bryan had 2 marks. I think both of Drapers were as a forward playing ruck against Sweet.
Nankervis, none at all.
Darcy Cameron 1 mark. None contested.

For a guy that someone said gets out marked 6 times a game. His direct opponent across 7 games there only have 9 marks. Total. None contested.

And just an example Darcy Cameron has 7,1,4,6,5,2 and 6 marks in each game this year.

Sweet had 3 marks against Collingwood, 2 against Richmond, 5 against Essendon, 0 against North and Saints, 1 against Sydney and Hawthorn.
Xerri had 23 disposals and a goal and was third best on ground for North. Sweet had 8 disposals and was uncompetitive.
Grundy had 26 while Sweet had 9.
Meek kicked two goals from Sweets incompetence.
Rohan Marshall isn't a ruck he's a forward that broke even with Sweet.
Bryan and Draper destroyed the Sweet Soldo combo.
He broke even against old man Nankervis.
He beat Cameron who is having a poor season compared to last year.

He's having a shocking year and looks uncompetitive in contested situations outside of the ruck. The issue isn't just the lack of marks it's the way he's not competing for them, he genuinely looks like he's just protecting his face. At 206cms he should be a genuine marking option down the line but he's being outcompeted sometimes by much smaller men. I wouldn't be making these arguments if we didn't have a competitive beast wasting away in the twos, but it's time to rest Sweet and play Visentini even if it's just for a month to let Sweet recover.

Meek kicked two goals from umpiring gifts for things that Meek was being allowed to do to Sweet.

Marshall isn't a ruck? Seriously?
He beat Cameron who is having a poor season compared to last year.
This is a "Ken Hinkley is an awesome coach" level bad call.

Darcy Cameron is sitting as the ruckman in most rolling All Australian teams.

According to Champion Data, Sweet has been average all year and generally shaded or outright beat and is definitely in a bit of a form slump in the last three games.

I don't think he's droppable unless Visentini is knocking the door down.

This is a laughably biased post, did Sweet sleep with your girlfriend or something?

If you're finding whatever straw clutching angle you can find ('Marshall isn't a ruck', lol) to shit on a player who plays for the team you supposedly support, you're supporting wrong.

Do you remember the stuff you wrote about Teakle? I'm honestly surprised I'm getting any push back whatsoever to be honest. Go back and just watch Sweets efforts over the last two weeks saying some of his actions are uncompetitive is being nice. He's genuinely been weak outside of the ruck and doesn't have the aggression that he played with last year. Now that could be that he's been worn down by too much workload, or it could mean he doesn't have what it takes to be a number one ruck. Anyway you split it, it's time to drop him for Visentini.

I didn't have to clutch at straws to shit on Teakle, I just posted stats. I certainly didn't ever have to post anything as ridiculous as 'Rowan Marshall isn't a ruckman' or 'Darcy Cameron is having a bad 2025' to justify it. 'Old man Nankervis' also had 10 coaches votes and something like 170 SuperCoach points against Teakle, incidentally.

Sweet has had a poor couple of weeks. You can just say that without embarrassing yourself with the other stuff you posted.

Look I could get into a big vitriolic argument with you over my opinions on other teams ruck options but honestly that's not what this is really about. So I'm just going to ask you a few questions. 1. Do you watch the Magpies regularly? If you do what's your thoughts on Visentini and what he can become at AFL level? Do you think Sweet offers enough outside of the tap to be a number one AFL ruck that is guaranteed games? How long does Sweet get to play like he has over the last two weeks until he gets dropped.

I like Visentini, I wouldn't be disappointed if he gets a run in the ones sometime soon. You can praise one of our players without undeservedly and unfairly shitting on another one though.

Do you honestly believe that his last two weeks are acceptable? To the level that me calling it out is unfair? Wow

No, it was your biased dismissal of all the good football against good players he played before the last two weeks which was unfair.

He broke even with or was beaten by every ruck outside of Cameron that's a fact. He's had an average year before these past two weeks not a good year. He's also had horrendous moments in nearly every game and has given away the most free kicks of any player in the league in the last three. These good players that you mentioned Rohan Marshall and Nankervis were both not in the top 150 players last year they weren't in the top 10 rucks either, they're has beens. Apart from Cameron who clearly had a bad day and is down on his performances last year I haven't been in the slightest unfair.

Rowan Marshall is a has been. Pack it up boys, we've reached peak BigFooty.

lol

Name ten ruckmen who were better than Toby Nankervis and Rowan Marshall last year. And do you think Cameron might have 'had a bad day' because of his direct opponent playing well?

You claim you're not being unfair and then spout absolute shit like this about a player on the team you supposedly support. Just admit you were wrong, take the L and move on. You can even still make your larger point (Sweet has been poor for the last couple of weeks, nobody is arguing with you there, and Vis could be brought in for him without any complaint from me) while conceding that you were wrong about this aspect.

Easy. Jackson, Meek, Gawn, Cameron, TDK, Big O, Jarrod Witts, Grundy, Briggs, Xerri and English all rated higher by Champion Data last year lol.

Do I think Cameron had a bad day because of Sweet no I don't. Sweets strength is the tap and Cameron's the contest and around the ground marking, Sweet wouldn't be the reason that Cameron was down on marks and follow up contests because he basically doesn't have the skills to stop those. All players have bad games irrespective of their opponents.

Have I used a little hyperbole to get my points across? Yeah but Donald Trump is leader of the free world so go with what works I guess. You didn't answer the very simple questions that I put forward before btw. Do you think that Sweet offers enough to play as the number one ruck? Are you okay with the past two weeks performances? How long can he put those performances together before you would consider dropping him? Do you think Visentini has what it takes to be our number 1 ruck? Do you think in a transition year like this one blooding high quality youth is more important than getting another couple of wins?

By what measure?

The only publicly available Champion Data rankings I'm aware of are Supercoach points, and by that measure Marshall and Nankervis were the 3rd and 4th best ruckmen in the comp last year.

Supercoach is a very simplified version of the stats and analysis that clubs get. Champion Data analytics give very detailed information on impact that clubs pay top dollar for. I'm mates with one of the back office analysts and all my information come from him. Pure impact on the game those two aren't in the top ten.
