I'm not saying that Sweet doesn't do good things as well but his good is good and his bad is really bad.

A ruck trying a 50 metre switch to me is crazy.
A ruck smashing the ball with 40 seconds to go at centre bounce is crazy.

Was a low % handball that we did not need to attempt considering the time left and the fact we were leading.

I don't know what was available in the 50, but typically you'd want him to kick long to a contest in the 50 and try and lock it in there to run the clock down. Alternatively look to the wing and get a boundary throw in (more difficult now with the new rules)

Going corridor for a risky handball is one of the last options.
My brother, you need to check again. 15 mins on the clock and we were 15pts down.

Sweet reminds me a tad of Maggie's ruckman Kevin Salmon, who wasn't greatly talented but was an absolute work horse who gave 100% for the team every time.

There are obviously some untidy loose ends to sort out (eg his poor decision in that late play against the tingles), but I'm prepared to cut him some slack until I see what he can do under the tuition of a ruck coach who had some ability at the caper himself!
I find it really hard to judge our rucks whilst Lobbe is still ruck coach.

I remember the old Sambo Salmon. He was around in the days when we had Keith Spencer rucking also.

Reckon he still plays the Hinkley high on emotion way. Gets all pumped up and out come the brain sharts. If they can get him to calm the farm and stop trying to be a hero, I think he can be an 8/10 ruck. Probably requires leaving him in as first choice all year.

Vis is an even bigger spud and is the only other ruck on our list, so based off of that alone i will not bag sweet.

Port has a lot of low footy IQ players on its list. I would go as far to say Sweet has the lowest of the lot.

I can see why Carr started Vis in round 1, if only to keep this muppet out of the team. The problem being, that whilst I wouldn't consider Vis to be a low IQ player, he's just not good, so they have to play Sweet anyway.

Not getting Grundy a few years back hurt this team far more than anyone would be willing to admit.

A mistake on Port’s part was purely focusing on the footy aspect rather than the whole thing e.g. lifestyle, off-field opportunities etc. when presenting the pitch to Grundy iirc.

Port's pitch included the lifestyle aspect. Quite often when Port have in person meetings with prospective players, they take them to Henley Beach and use that as a bit of a carrot so to speak.

Visentini can't help himself but give away a bunch of stupid frees as well.

Doesn't hold a candle to Sweet's low footy IQ imo.
Granted, I think both players are shit. Ruck imo is one of the biggest needs on this team.

The way Adelaideans overrate Henley Beach is hilarious.

The Henley pitch to Aliir is pretty much what sealed the deal to get him to Port.

It's an extremely affordable beach side suburb relative to its counterparts in Sydney and Melbourne.

Yep. I'd take them further south. Glenelg or Brighton/Seacliff is better.

It's largely in part due to the close proximity of Henley to Alberton, in conjunction with a fair proportion of players living in that area already.
