Anyone got an idea as to why Josh Battle dropped so far? Just watching his highlights again, looks a very natural forward, great hands and endurance. To fall to pick 39 seems bizarre.

I have no idea, but was told by a few that there were serious questions about his character and a perception from a number of recruiters that he will be a behavioural concern.

Again this isn't official just scuttlebutt

Doesn't seem to correlate with him refusing to touch alcohol in order to do everything he can to live his dream of being an AFL footballer.

I reckon it has more to do with having to complete school next year and many teams drafting for the now due to the evenness of the competition and the obsession with height, a 192cm (he says he 193 himself) tall forward is supposedly short. Also tested poorly at the combine for agility and the like (and a few have mentioned it was affected by an ankle sprain) so who knows. I don't see any potential behavioural issues that clubs would worry about but no doubt they'd have dug far deeper than we can

Overall looks a good kid and happy we got him.

192cm but tells everyone he's 193.... We can't have that sort of trouble.

I heard he heads down to dandy on Friday nights in the green machine and competes in illegal drag racing! Also does some pretty sick skids in the Frankston industrial area.

The height thing is an interesting one. Personally I like 192-193 height. We saw what Membrey can do this year at 189.

Question marks over his athleticism, but he tested very well for endurance.

Anyway, I guess we'll wait and see, hopefully others got this one wrong.

Can confirm this.

Barrels also there in his orange machine

I couldn't understand why he wasn't higher rated and asked a few times before we got him. Consensus seemed to be that he had poor agility and was slow as the queen mary when turning and too short for KPF roles. I watched him with my eyes and no stats in front of me and he can kick goals from ground balls after winning his own footy, Doesn't just rely on a lead up game, doesn't seem to have any issues marking despite his apparent lack of height etc. Sometimes dickhead recruiters look at test results and forget to watch what's going on in front of them. Caleb Daniel was playing really good footy in his draft year but everyone said he was too short and wouldn't cope with getting body contact etc. Sometimes if they look like footballers and get results that's enough.

He was easily the best KPF option in the draft from the little bits I saw. I reckon he's be a gun.

Yeh, seems like a clean skin to me. Doesn't drink, keen on completing his studies, seeks out advice to the point of being annoying so he can make it, committed himself to making it by getting super fit after a knock back from Sydney's recruiters. If that's a trouble maker I hope that's the extent my kids get into trouble.

Josh is a great kid, played a bit of cricket with him a few years ago, very dedicated to his sport, very down to earth but has a good laugh as well.

coached against him when he played juniors at Narre South, he was always dominate and tough to stop. he loves the contest, anything physical he is all in for.

will be great to see him develop for you guys.
