So if Bruce is so good and is under contract why exactly are St Kilda trying to trade him?
Why push out the door someone rated as a first round pick?

I can only come to the conclusion/guess that they are going after max king in the draft and think we don't need all these tall forwards

Also, why can't we keep De Goey as a forward? Does a midfield of Pendlebury, Sidebottom, Adams, Treloar, Sier, Beams, Phillips, Wells need help?

IF Collingwood want him then he's worth more than that as a contracted player, if it's more us moving him on then I would agree with you. All depends on if Collingwood actively want him.

St.Kilda have got some good young tall forwards who need opportunities. I think they would prefer to move Bruce on.

Lol, as if. Prior to this year, which was an injury write-off, he kicked more goals than anyone at Carlton in each of the previous 3 seasons. Including by 16 goals in 2016 (38 to 22) and 19 in 2015 (50 to 31).

He also kicked more goals in any of those 3 seasons than anyone kicked at Carlton again this year.

When you've got someone who plays key forward and is good for approx 40 goals a year and who was in a clubs leadership group by 25yo, they're worth a lot more than a 3rd!

I'd prefer us to ship Paddy off for a pick in the 20's than trade Bruce. If he gets a decent run with injuries I see no reason why he couldn't get back to his best (still only 26) and could flourish being the main man in the forward line instead of living in Riewoldt's shadow. He's a serious athlete, runs as hard as anyone has good height/reach and is a pretty good kick for goal. Get his body right and his confidence up and he's good for 40 goals per year. But for the love of god Richo has to stop playing him in the ruck.

Yep would absolutely take him, would be worthwhile as I feel whoever out of him and Curnow got the 2nd defender would be really dangerous. McGovern could be trialled in defence and McKay given time to develop on the third defender.

Not sure it'd make any sense for Bruce though - he`s not going to leave to Carlton for any of the big 3 reasons (home, money, success). Would be a weird sideways move career wise.

Unfortunately it appears that the Saints are under the delusion that Paddy is a better prospect despite the fact that Bruce is a better mark, better kick, more versatile and covers more ground. In addition, his previous 2-3 seasons have been better than anything Paddy has produced.

As such, there’s a sense that Richo will move him on in order to bypass the elite looking mids... Rankine in particular to draft another risky oversized forward, that looks good playing on kids half his size.

Bruce would be an absolute steal for a second round pick... absolute steal. He’s an ok, at times almost elite forward in a team that can’t move the ball forward directly, and are only capable of kicking it to him on top of a pack.

Bruce is comfortably better than Paddy at this stage, but that's precisely the reason we would consider trading him, for a worthwhile offer, because we'd actually get a decent return for him. Something we won't get for Paddy at this point in time.

Unless we happened to get an offer that was just too good to knock back I don't see us trading him unless we're pretty much certain to be getting Max King though, as fit and in form he would still likely be first picked out of himself, Paddy, Battle and Marshall.

Of those mentioned, it seems the Saints are making a call that Bruce has the least amount of upside. They need to play Battle.

I wonder how serious Bruce’s injury was. That is, is he expected to make a full recovery? Maybe there are question marks on it

IMO, he's certainly ahead of Mihocek (I don't really rate), possibly ahead of Cox (because Bruce has more runs on the board), but certainly behind DeGoey.

Agree. Between all the concussion and diabetes/fitness issues, I don't see him making it.

I think he averaged 40 goals a year between 2015-2017 playing in a below average side before injury this year.

He'd be a very good option for someone looking for that kind of player. I'd be disappointed if we traded him for the sake of it.

Didn’t mean to say he would be our second best tall forward, i wouldnt be surprised if he lead our goalkicking from our talls.

Cox seems to always demand a tall defender and another 3rd man up, so hopefully Bruce would be able get a few extra snags.

Roughead will most likely just be used as depth for either Grundy or Cox, and if we are desperate for a key defender(However i know dogs dont rate him as one).

Mihocek is still best 22, i want to see him pushed up the ground and play more defence and potentially on ball, hopefully taking advantage of a weaker opponent due to the Bruce recruit.

There's been a few of those so far this off-season...

You're right though, Bruce wouldn't really fit at Carlton, particularly with the current structure of their list. They've got enough talls both forward and back to develop and try and fit in as it is.
