No doubt the issue is we wont know till its done how the AFl see it. Point was IF we lose him its not all downside, it gives us more to play with that GC want. Banking compos is important to them

I realise that.

But like any auction, there's a tipping point, and a fork in the road, where you just have to let that opportunity pass.

Caddy for #14 + a Band 3 pick is certainly that point.

I would be keeping the picks, and backing in Bryce Lewis.

Agreed was in no way implying we part with the compo and 14. Still partially hoping Stringer will make it to 14.

Yes compensated in the same way all uncontracted players to GWS and GC were. AFL decided compo to be used in latter years.
Forgot about all that, hmm still not sure if its worth it even if we land Caddy. If we lose Pederson, H, possibly Delahney and Lachie then we lose alot of good KPP depth.

We are in the box seat.

Caddy's manager saying that the Geelong deal is the most attractive is quite telling. If he wanted to go there the deal would already have been done.

Ipso facto he wants to get traded to North and GC are posturing to get a better deal than just 14.

Ultimately Josh has to make a decision, he always has, he may have already, it would suck for us if a high quality kid like him, nominated us privately, only for the club not to be able to facilitate a deal, and he went to a rival Melbourne club.

It's to his benefit to come out and name a club if he has a preference.

Other suitors would look stupid if they continued to pursue him.

it'd be once bitten twice shy though, he did that last year and got burned because the scum are inept.

Not really fair on the clubs that miss out though if they waste 3 weeks on a trade that doesnt happen and miss out on other plans. Surely he would state a 1,2,3 preference to GC so they know who to negotiate with first

different situation... Last year he was contracted and GCS had the power to say no... This year Uncontracted an Shack has the power to say yes...
Exactly. Don't know why he should be scared of being pushed to the draft, and going to Melbourne though. Can't see GC doing that. Unless, of course, there is some draft tampering going on, ala Jade Rawlings.

Not liking the fact that caddys manager says geelong is know the box seat with their components pick

He basically said that from an 'outsiders perspective' that GC want the compo pick. Do Geelong want to give it up? Well, if they did Caddy would likely be a Cat by now.

There's very few people around here that are capable of dissecting bullshit.

Caddy's manager and Ashcroft have effectively stated nothing.

His manager played funny games last year.

Essendon and him kept it quiet that he wanted/needed to come back home. It only came out late in trade week giving other clubs a day or 2 to offer the suns a better deal but not enough time to convince Josh to come to them. Was very strange just like this year, not naming a preference (at least publicly).

Our only comfort to the silence this year is that there was no noise last year (and the whispers this year are all North).

Why would either GC or his manager publicly weaken their position this early?

So he wants us
GC wants the compo
Geelong are favourites because they have the compo
Geelong dont want to trade the compo
He will end up at North for pick 14 after all the bulls..t - seriously GC are trying to dictacte where he goes.

I think Geelong know he wants us and will try to accomodate that.

This.

GC will drag this out and stonewall as long as humanly possible.
