Mate, I'd trust Scottywiper's mail over some wishful thinking Carlton flog any day.

SEN use the shot gun approach around trade week, they run that many rumours in the hope that they get one right, it's a three horse race, Geelong us and possibly the saints may make a late charge down the home straight.

We definitely have him now.
Everything that David Schwarz told me in person has come to fruition. Actually one thing has turned out Goddard to Essendon. He also confirmed Lynch to Collingwood, Pederson gone, before all the rumours came out.

Pretty sure your post was wrong.

He confirmed gossip that everyone else was stating?

The man is obviously a genius.

TheOx: "Sticks, it is the Ox here. Are you guys after Caddy?"
Sticks: "Absolutely mate, the deal is as good as done. Just between you and me though."
TheOx: "No worries mate, I wont breath a word."
<clink>
Sticks: "Hehehehehe."
SEN: "Caddy to the Blues, rumour confirmed."

I heard this as well - and they have pick 11.

Wouldn't surprise me if we end up with jack shit at the end of this trade period like we normally do (excepting draft picks).

If we get him we get him. The top 15 or so will be pretty strong in this draft, it wont be the end of the world if we have to go back to the well for a drink. There is no real guarantee that Caddy will be any better than a kid we can get with our first round pick.

ST KILDA coach Scott Watters has turned up the heat on the AFL to hand the Saints a top draft pick as compensation for Brendon Goddard's defection to Essendon.
Goddard, who was classed as a restricted free agent, officially became a Bomber today, signing a lucrative four-year contract the Saints chose not to match.

At the end of the trade period the AFL will determine what compensation the Saints receive for Goddard, using a formula weighing up what they lost and gained in the free agency frenzy.

It means should St Kilda go and sign a big fish to replace Goddard, it would diminish the compensation they would be handed.

Compensation comes in the form of picks at the national draft.

Watters tonight said the club "had an idea" of what they would receive.

"We think he’d fit into the top echelon of what can be compensated. But ultimately we’ll find out at the end of the trade period where the AFL sit on that," he told SEN.
"But we’d be staggered if it wasn’t a first-round draft pick."

Watters defended the club's decision to not match Essendon's contract, estimated at about $2.9m over four years.

The Saints would not budge on their three-year offer, which became the sticking point for Goddard.

"We thought it was a really respectful offer. It respected not only Brendon’s position within the football club, but also every other player on the list," Watters said.

"It wasn’t the club making a choice here, it was Brendon making a choice to leave the club."

Watters would not speculate on whether his club was confident of nabbing silky Gold Coast midfielder Josh Caddy, but promised action across the next four weeks.

"But that’s the quality of player (Caddy) we now have the potential to look at," he said.
"All I can do is ensure our fans that we’re very, very aggressively in the position now to rebuild our list and position our list not just for next year, but with an eye to the next three, four, five years."

Link giantroo? We always need the link as well. Cheers mate.

If Caddy doesn't nominate us and it becomes a bidding war then we're very unlikely to get him. Carlton being interested changes nothing in that regard.

They're looking at drafting kids.

They don't really have much choice anyway.

The Saints are headed south. I can't see Caddy getting too excited about this.

is it just me or does anyone else think pick 11 is a bit of overs! if we had pick 11 id be wanting to keep it!

good luck to carlton if they are willing to give that up!
