Take it for what its worth (SEN is hardly reliable), but apparently SEN reported that Caddy's manager has denied any St Kilda trade. Its Geelong or North as far as he is concerned.

Ohhh but all the guys with the know on the d & t board are saying that Caddy and Hickey are signed sealed delivered to seaford which is why the Goddard thing happened so quickly... :(

Makes sense, was a bit odd anyway all the speculation that popped up over the saints when what happened yesterday had been set in stone for a while

Also, it's quite odd to consider that the Saints were suddenly assured to get Caddy for pick 13 when Carlton have had pick 11 up for grabs for quite some time.

If didn't know any better (and most of the time I don't :(), I'd suggest that Caddy has already met with St Kilda and Carlton, along with others, and has already decided to not pursue trades to either team. Collingwood were in the hunt until Cloke re-signed. Melbourne have already been ruled out.

So, by process of elimination it leave our clubs leading the race. Honestly, I could think of worse places for him to end up either way ;)

If he didn't nominate us I really wouldn't be fussed if we landed him or not TBH. As long as we're in the ballpark contract wise, with our state of the art facilities and very promising list, and the fact we're the team his entire family supports, if he STILL chooses elsewhere then he's not a true hot blooded Shinboner anyway. If we're way off on the contract front then fair enough.

I haven't given up hope that he will nominate us but I'm far from biting my nails and throwing a noose over the nearest tree branch in the event he doesn't.

Does anyone have a link to thouthes about the family supporting North thing? I find it strange he wanted to go for Essendon last year, no self respecting North person would do that, Shirley! That would be disowning level of betrayal. :p

saints are the favourites to get jacobs from port wont that take there first pick?

reported that saints will meet caddy's management this week... they have asked about Jacob's and Steven's

I think the only one who talked up Caddy to the Saints were the Saints.

That just sounds like a final pitch - you would assume they would have already put forward their offer so it may be a "we can offer more coin now, re-consider?"

If they get a pick below 14, I take it that there will be a shuffle in the draft order. So we could end up with pick 15ish? Or do I have it wrong?
Correct. If Saints get top compensation it is a first round pick, directly after theirs.

And on the competing North/Geelong bids, it is their compo pick they're looking to trade, for the previously assumed reasons, explained by Neil Balme:

Balme said the Cats were trying to lure Gold Coast’s Josh Caddy and were also in talks to secure Rivers.

"He’s (Caddy)clearly made some sort of arrangement with Gold Coast where they’re prepared to consider the fact he needs to go and live back in Victoria, which is more a personal thing than a footy thing,’’ he said.

"All that’s got to happen with that is he’s got to decide where he wants to play and that’s got to suit the Gold Coast. There’s still a fair bit of work to do there.’’

Geelong has the ability to trade the compensation pick it received for Gary Ablett, which has not been activated for this year’s draft.

"That’s probably an advantage to the Gold Coast and maybe Greater Western Sydney because they will want to be staggering their picks where as other clubs will want to use them straight away,’’ he said.

"That can’t be used until next at best.’’

from Free Agency is killing football, says Roos. (Can't believe I am agreeing with him).

We were always keen on Josh Caddy if Brendon Goddard was going to leave..

Going by the state of your list I would expect StKilda to be interested in anything that can stand upright in football boots.

The Koby Stevens revelation is interesting. Is StKilda out of the Caddy race now, or are they going after Caddy and Stevens?

Needs more scottywiper
Yeah, Scotty lands big fish... :p

I reckon they are going after both and Ben Jacobs. They need to rebuild their midfield and this is a good opportunity for them to do so in one move. Long term back loaded contracts with big $$$ could work in their favour considering the number of older players departing the scene in the next two to three years. They will still have massive holes at either end of the ground though so I'm not sure just how convincing the strategy is to those they are trying to target.

With Boomer and possibly Drew, you'd reckon we could do similar?!

We could, but we have less need to. Caddy would suffice but OH MY GOD CAN YOU IMAGINE HOW AWESOME WE W ILL BE IN 5 YEARS WITH ALL THAT YOUNG TALENT ON THE LIST!!!! I'M GONNA FREAKIN EXPLODE!!!!!

With all this carry on about Caddy, he would want to be the next Gazza Jnr to warrant the hype!!

17 pages and counting, all based on speculation so far.....

Personally, i'm meh either way. If he wants to come at a minimal salary then great and he can add to the rest of our talented youngsters, if he is chasing $$ or has tickets on himself then i'd rather he go elsewhere.

To be honest I'm kinda the same. It would be good to get Caddy, because I reckon he is exactly the type of young player we should target, and it would send a positive message about our club, but if he don't wanna be here then so be it.
