He's what we need so we must do whatever it takes to get the deal done!

Player (McKinley, Edwards, Pedersen, Greenwood, Garlett, McIntosh) + pick 14 plus 2nd/3rd round exchange. Pay him $400k ... that should do it.

Lets not forget though, that a few of our young blokes will be coming out of contract next year. We would want to pay them what they deserve.
Are we at 100% of salary cap yet? What are we likely to be talking about p.a.? Of course, there is a clear limit or breaking point, and I'm sure they're aware of what that is.

And there's a reason Caddy has been being hotly pursued. Physically ready midfielder with a full season and a bit under his belt, similar in age to our other young guns - ie ready now, and with years ahead of him. BFNAAK as the icing. I'm sure we'd get a good pick at 14 or 15 (post St Kilda compensation), but likely two years behind in development.

We could use pick 14 and the pederson pick to get it done.

Indeed, there is multiple trade scenarios. It's a very simplistic veiw to think whoever has the earliest first round pick will get the deal done.

There is every chance we could be dealing away Pederson and McIntosh which would give us extra bargaining chips. Draft picks could be swapped around. GC may fancy Pederson.

I think you may find that Pederson's value as a commodity has now dropped with the signing of Cloke, and the permutations that may come out of that.

Collingwood who were interested now have Lynch.
Melbourne who were interested are now keen on Dawes.

Not sure that there was any real interest from other clubs other than those 2.

Which is probably why we are so confident and very very quiet.

He's just spent 12 months in the VFL and is rumoured to have fallen out with the playing group (and other club recruiters would know this if true). Reality is his value was never that high in the first place, and if we somehow manage to snag a pick inside the top 40 we'll be laughing.

My point was nothing to do with the value, or otherwise of Cameron Pederson. My point was that there will possibly be more to the trade than just a first round draft pick.

I just wish the kid would say where he wants to go , if not us then that's fine . I'd like us to trade to upgrade our draft picks , we are a club on the rise and if someone out there wants to come to North then sweet . Lets not get somebody just for the sake of getting somebody , look at our weaknesses and only get guys that can full that roll .

Not really.

McKinley - 80's
Sierakowski - 50's
Richardson - 30's is maybe the only one, but injury has really cruelled him to this point

I thought Siera costs us a higher pick but there you go.

I will also admit, I was excited about Richo at the time. Was told by a couple of good judges in the caper that we had a steal

If I was Gold Coast I would be sending him to the saints; they have no interest in making their rivals stronger, sending him to the saints just makes them slightly less shit over the next few years rather than trading him to a potential challenger like us. The slightly higher pick is just a bonus

Geelong's is also attractive as they can bank it and keep a high draft pick up the sleeve for a year or two.

I fear we are a bit behind both with #14 and to be fair, so we should be given we are talking about a #7 with two years development and nothing to suggest he won't live up to #7 quality
Pretty much my thoughts as well.

I would be pissed if we lost a young player with the potential Caddy has for pick 14.

Anyway if your smart you start your bid low and move up from there.

Our second rounder is 32? Perhaps we could swap it for their 3rd rounder as well, or something similar. Theres also the chance we land a pick in the 20's for Pedo etc.

McKinley pick 85 , lost nothing

I don't get this logic. Yes we did - just like the rookie list can be used speculatively (the rookie draft that year for us netted Pedersen and Mullett) the late pick could've been used the same way.

Right now would we swap McKinley for any of:
Michael Hibberd
Jonathan GIles
Josh Jenkins
Dan Nicholson
Luke Dalhaus
etc

Fwiw I'd have taken McKinley for pick 86 with what we knew at the time.

But every pick is worth something especially even if just as a crapshoot.

Fair enough.
I was just trying to say that I am not convinced we have anything of value to trade other than a draft pick, or possibly Hamish to Geelong for a better pick that we can on trade.

Otherwise most of the players that we would be happy to lose (Pederson, McKinley, Warren, Richardson, Greenwood, etc.) don't hold much currency.

It's a bit like us trying to buy into a world poker game with Vietnamese Dong.
