I'm gonna say something pretty controversial here and might upset a few people, but i'll say it anyway.

I don't wanna risk trading pick 14 for Caddy if J Stringer is still available at pick 14. There is no evidence to say caddy will be better than Stringer in the long run and it will be an opportunity gone begging. I would rather us go for Koby Stevens on the cheap as a back up plan for Caddy. He might not be as good as Caddy, but in the long run it'll be better as we will (hopefully) have Stringer.
im with you if we got stevens and stringer that would be a lot better than getting caddy imo

also Bendigo's Jake Stringer has also kicked a perfect score in the Brad Johnson kicking test. A lot of Jack Darling about him, could fall down the order due to injury
was a lot of talk we were trying to get an earlier pick in the draft because we wanted this kid
would we be better off getting caddy or stringer?

I'm aware of the Nathan Buckley kicking test but the Brad Johnson kicking test!?!?

I'd imagine a perfect score means he is excellent at:

- Getting cheap handballs over the top in the goalsquare and kicking them into the top level like a hero.

- Missing goals after the siren to lose the game.

- Spraying the midfield when they don't kick it to you.

Just because it's not in the media doesn't mean we're not interested in others.
agree with that. but whilst others are trying to get more players its helps us. Cats want hamish and Rivers they will need to come up with a good deal. Saints want Mitch Brown they will have to come up with a good deal for WC.

Yep we are like the shy guy at the bar who is really into a chick which 2 other blokes are hitting on - but decide that the best plan of action is to sit back and wait until they screw up. Then we come back from the toilet and find she has left with both of them.
We end up waking up with the fat chick the next morning (who did look OK at the pub), trying to chew our arm off to get out.

/sigh

Are we going to end up with Stuart Dew? :(

i read that - is it jst me or are the media trying their best to push us aside - we have been very very quiet. And of all these articles has there been one quote from his manager or Josh himself............no. So its all crap.
Might be that we aren't talking to media. Not sure.

Do we think H is woth a first rounder - because i know if we get another first rounder somehow where in the box seat.

His value should be in line with his position and his expected remuneration. If they want him as a #1 ruckman and are going to pay him $500k+ then in my opinion he is worth a first round pick, especially given he is young enough to play 5+ years.

If anything, there should also be a premium price on a contracted player, not a discount. We would get more if we both agreed to terminate his contract and Geelong got him via free agency than the mid second round pick their supporters are talking about.

If your offer is that low then you are probably not in the market for his services. He is of more value to Geelong than he is to us, which is why he wants to move. But, unless they give us an offer we really like, we will likely get more for him on the scrap heap in 2013 than their second round pick.

Just a swell trades aren't done via the media.

It was a question of what you guys can offer? A legitimate one. I just think of the three clubs the Saints and Cats have more, but I'm not so up to date with what you guys are willing to deal with etc...Thought Nth board would be the best place to ask.
To answer your question if North want him enough then the 2 places in human lotto 2012 wont mean s****. McIntosh is the key for mine. Should only trade him if we get a guarantee from Geelong that they stay away from Caddy. He wont go to St Kilda. Kid will want to play finals sometime over then next decade.

We wont register because we are not talking about Caddy in the media, there is no real source saying why geelong are 'leading'. Nothing from GC, or Caddy or his manager. Until he nominates someone it is all guesswork.

What Saints and Geelong don't have is North blood in the family veins, if all other factors being equal then you would think that would count for a fair bit, if we matched the coin he would earn and had a reasonable offer for GC.

I think other supporters are discounting the ties, if North were smart they would play hard on that. I think we would have to drop the ball big time to lose him.

Haha. Fantastically appropriate user name.

Just to say something, Geelong have said they're making Caddy the number one priority, and won't do other deals until that's out of the way, so the McIntosh idea falls down there.

On the other hand, it's great that someone knows that he categorically what Caddy wants, and exactly how the Saints will go in the next decade. What's your source? It'd be great to know all these before they happen, saves me about a decade of watching games when I could already know the result!

Look at your list. That will tell you all you need to know.

No decent tall forwards under 30, a defence creaking it's way to retirement and no good replacements, a midfield with 3 ageing stars and a handful of useful to good types. One good ruck.

Well its an opinion, if you don't like my opinion or how I express it then there are plenty of other boards and a handy ignore feature.

My source is common sense... Hayes 32
Milne 32
Blake 31
Fisher 30
Koschitzke 30
Riewoldt 30
Montagna 29
Peake 29
Scheider 28

And your best player and potential next captain walked out.

I don't think one of the hottest prospects is going to move back to play with St Kildas ageing list when he can go play with a bunch of premiership heroes or a developing midfield who are around the same experience and age as he is.

I personally don't think we will get him but I will eat my hat if he goes to St Kilda. I doubt GC will cry over picks between 12 and 15 if it means they risk losing him for nothing in the pre-season draft.

For the results over the next decade, well it will prob be something like St kilda's previous 116 years of AFL/VFL football. If I was you I would give the next decade a miss, or become a member of a club that wins stuff every now and again. However being a St Kilda supporter your probably immune to failure by now.

I think the fact you even have Peake on that list shows how much you know about the players down at St Kilda, and what we have coming through the ranks.

Like you with St Kilda, I find it hard to see Caddy tying all his options up with North after what happened last year, and I can't see what North have to offer GC that's better than what the Cats and Saints can. Like you, I'll eat my hat if he goes to you, but my bet is that he will most likely go to the Cats, then to the Saints, and then to the Roos.

In a player sharing arrangement?

Or do we only get 1/3 of him?

In the Player sharing scenario surely it would be better if he went say Geelong/North/Saints or Saints/North/Geelong I mean the commute between Seaford to Geelong would be what 4 hours?

Come back when he nominates Tommy.

Until then, your guess is as good or as shit as everyone elses.

Damn right, but it's always fun to speculate (that's all this 28 page thread is anyway). And now, I shall be off, to return when he's signed with his new club.

Probably to eat my hat.....

From what i can gather, Geelong are in the box seat because of their priority pick.
GC will want this priority pick for Caddy.
North and Geelong want Caddy and Geelong also want Mc Intosh.
What do Geelong give North for Mc Intosh ?
If GC do not trade, do they lose Caddy to the draft ?
There are just so many scenarios.
It may be a three way trade.

Like I said earlier...the 2 blokes at the bar go home with the hot chick while we end up with the slops...
