Definitely. It just makes more sense that he would go to a club he has family that played with and family supports if all other factors are fairly equal.

Who is to say he didn't choose a club a long time ago but the parties have been in discussion without making it public? I don't think there was anything wrong with him listening to other clubs, in case there was issues with us being able to get a deal done with GC he would want to have a contingency plan.

Yes I think today's announcement by Kurt Tippett on Sydney Swans stationery letterhead is a little tasteless given the deal still needs to be done to Adelaide's satisfaction. Likewise, Wellingham. When did these trades suddenly lean so entirely in the player's favour? I still remember Nick Stevens getting justifiably screwed over by Port Adelaide and having to spend the rest of his career in hell.

I guess this might not be a rumor. I got a text this afternoon from my source saying we've raised our offer, but got no indication of the number.

Deal is nowhere near done, but we've closed Geelong's lead on the kid.

Even in the cynic in me is getting a little excited.

That seems a pretty fair deal to me.

I tend to agree.

Greenwood moves a notch further down the pecking order if we get Caddy.

Also from GC perspective, spending 2 years on a pick 7, to then get just pick 14 back in return. I wouldn't be happy if it happened to us.

Why?

Well, other than losing a pretty good pick in a 'super draft' (which i've been resigned to since we came into the Caddy race), we're also losing a guy that the North boys would love to play with. Yes, Greenwood has been a bit underwhelming since his breakout game in 2010, but you don't find bulls that flare up at the sight of a pack or a loose ball regularly. Just think that the Gold Coast could use him a lot more effectively than what we have and it could come back to bite us.

but will be stoked to see Caddy in blue and white (vertical, not horizontal) in 2013!
