Caddy is going to be a top class player. I have a lot more confidence in him than most.
He is a power athlete with a real thirst for hard work. He is very strong mark and classy around the goal.
His form has not been great but by no means disastrous. Bigger bodied midfielders just take longer because their game in juniors was built on power and they just don't have that advantage at the highest level. He needs to re-learn his game and adapt to Geelong style.
I have a sneaky feeling he'll have a big impact in second half of the year, I think he might even get into the finals team.
Yeah, but if you compare his output this year to others it has been lower than what some would have expected (certainly pre-season). Take Horlin-Smith. This year, they've played the same number of games, both have been subs twice, plus the fact both were taken in the 2010 draft it's an excellent comparison.
And it all goes one way. Horlin-Smith has more disposals, more marks, more tackles, more inside 50s, more contested possessions, and more clearances. And he's only played 9 games, not 30 like Caddy has.
This doesn't mean Caddy won't make it, I think he will. But anyone who thinks he's in our best 22 is not being realistic just yet. Horlin-Smith won't be automatically put back in, and he's done far more.
Yes, below expectations and Horlin-Smith is ahead of him. It is impossible to find a spot for him at the moment as he is not a first choice midfielder yet and we are flushed with flankers. I am just basing it on a gut feel he will really improve second half of the year.
I think Caddy just needs a big game to feel he belongs and take the pressure off himself.

Yep. Needs that breakout game. No doubt both he and Horlin-Smith will get more games in the second half of the year. Whether they're there come finals is another matter.
Nah, I'd rather see him in the Freo and Hawthorn games.Hence why he probably should have lined up against GC/ GWS if fit. Brisbane could be a good opportunity for him to try and stake a claim
Only with himselfWill he play this weekend?

Really? We could have Varcoe and Taylor Hunt back by then. They're must win games, and he's not in our best 22 yet.
Who goes out for him?
The most like for like player would be stringer but he would be stiff to miss after only one game.Really? We could have Varcoe and Taylor Hunt back by then. They're must win games, and he's not in our best 22 yet.
Doubt that either will go straight in without some game time in the VFL.
Who goes out for him?

My feeling since we signed him is that general expectations of him are way too high and based more on his initial draft pick number and the Ablett compo we gave up for him. For me, he simply doesn't get enough of the footy yet to be in our best 22 as an inside mid. I do believe he will be an important cog in our MF wheel over the next 3+4 years, though. Long way behind Selwood, Bundy, T. Hunt, SJ, Bartel and Duncan and lagging guys like GHS and even Stringer/Cowan when fit as far as I can see, but I like what I see in general.
He'd have to explode out of the blocks over the next month to be rated a chance for Finals, though. I hope he does, of course....
Caddy should play v Brisbane and bloody hope he stays in the centre square alongside Selwood and Kelly, terrific clearance gatherer, holds up in tackles to dish off the footy while Hyphen has the same attributes minus the speed of Caddy who's a little quicker than he gets credit for imo.
I reckon GHS is more skilful with the ball tho. Also looks like he has greater footballing instincts than Caddy, imo
Should each progress into very established players one day tho. However sometimes I get a little unnerved by the lack of game time each receive at this crucial stage in their youth development. Cost of having such a good team I suppose.

Absolutely no idea who goes out for him.Really? We could have Varcoe and Taylor Hunt back by then. They're must win games, and he's not in our best 22 yet.

Absolutely spot on. Exactly as I see it. But the competition for spots is going to be insane after the break. Very tough decisions to be made.
Caddy will do well at the cats, has a few ahead of him but once they retire he will slot straight into ur midfield
I think fitness also has something to do with it, Cats play a high fitness based gameplan which obviously he can't fulfill yet.
Once he gets that tank (close to next year, likely the year after) we will see him play a lot more in the midfield, he has the tools no doubt.
He was one of the fittest in preseason by all reports.
