How did you guys see his game last night?
I checked the stats after the game but I felt he was pretty good, put his head over it and was hard and tough, really helped with the defensive pressure through half forward and into the midfield, was exactly the type of game I was hoping to see from him.
16 touches, 9 contested only 44% DE though (maybe pointing to how he was getting it and not so much how he was using it), 8 tackles (second highest) and 4 clearances.
IMO seems to have "gotten" how we want him to play and I reckon we might see him play most games from here on if he continues with that kind of form, really good signs that he could fulfill that big strong midfield role we hoped he would.

Very happy with his game, he has the physical size and presence, not that classy with his disposal, but with Duncan, Christensen, Motlop, Varcoe, Stokes etc being so damaging with the ball what we really needed is someone to lay the tackles and shovel it out to them or just hacked forward. Big show to play most games now, might get squeezed out by Corey in September for his role but he is a long term player.

Seemed to spend a lot of time forward in a "role" as a medium target/defensive mindset I thought. I was pretty impressed; one of his better games.
Haven't changed my opinion of him. Think he is going to be a gun - eventually. It's his decision making that still lets him down and puts him behind others banging on the door.

That being said, he was ok.

Needs to learn to use it better, but liking everything else he did last night.

Is that due to how he is getting the ball though?
Obviously he is a "coal face" type player so you would presume his DE would be lower than an outside mid as most of his touches would be inside contested disposals and quick clearing handballs/kicks.
Still I agree his decision making needs improving but I think thats a natural growth with experience.

Caddy has a bit of SJ about him and does try a higher degree of difficulty...ditto Smedts, it will take a little bit of time to get this to the elite level he is capable of. Very excited by both Smedts and Caddy, there time is coming right now and they can both make a big difference come finals.

Agree with all that.
I reckon Caddy and Smedts both have massive ceilings, Duncan and Bundy like ceilings.

Happy with his game... was very very handy in those rolling contests in the forward line because he isn't afraid of throwing his body in, and at times tries to muscle his way out rather than dropping to the ground. Last nights game actually suited him perfectly actually, playing as a hard forward midfielder with freakin 100 contests in the forward line!

Not that it is a like-for-like comparison, but if we are picking our 22nd player, between the likes of Smedts and Caddy.... I'd pick Caddy for the finals. Just harder at it, and suits finals a tad better.

He makes a few unforced errors in space. But as you say, he'll knock that out in time.

I suggested last night that he was a centre point for the physical type of game we played and stand by that. He was in most packs and if he was tackled he held it in as well or better than anyone. We've been undone by good tackling in recent weeks but last night we we very strong when being tackled.

Very happy with Caddy he does he best work inside so not as obvious as the outside runners.

He shows a bit more class at VFL level. It'll come over time in the seniors. I was impressed by the pressure he brought. I'm not sure how many smothers he made, but I can recall a few.

I've got very little doubt he'll become a good player for us. Not sure he's in our best 22 yet though. Can't question his efforts or workrate which is a huge plus, just needs to get the ball more and use it better.

Is hard at it, has a nice turn of pace. Skills and confidence will develop. I have absolutely no doubt he will become a gun player for us.

Caddy is just doing hes apprenticeship at the cattery he should be more apart of the midfeild group next year he as agood upside.

^ THIS. Patience he's still young and new people. He was worth getting. If only Dangerfield had jumped off the sinking Crows ship, it would've been nice to have him.

Reckon that game may just stamp the start of his career.
I thought he was VERY good tonight and really did some nice things.
His disposal was very good (75% DE I believe) and was good and hard in tight, that goal in the last quarter, from the boundary, with basically the game riding on it, HUGE.
Same with Murdoch I reckon, this will be seen as the sign post, the fork in the road where they both head towards a very very good career.
On ya Cads!

Loved the passion when he kicked that goal.

His work inside the contest is super, and the other parts of his game are improving with each passing week. The fact that he's had a quiet time, gone back to the vfl and then returned in much better form suggests he has the workrate and determination to become a very good player, which I think he will.

Just needs a bit of polish with his disposals and decision making and he will be a star.

Definitely could become one I reckon, as Geelong supporters we have over expectations on the youth at times due to expectations to fill the shoes of champions pronto.
Caddy was a young inexperienced kid at the GC just learning the expectations to basically play in that side, he was by no means a star at GC just a kid with potential.

Now he's stepped into Geelong as a midfielder where the standard expected is elite.
I reckon he's fast tracking given the background....thanks Steve Wells!

He's beginning to put it together. The goal in the last would have been huge for his confidence, considering the pressure of the situation and the difficulty of the shot.

Love his hunger for the contest.
