While I was watching his best performance ever in the Blessed Hoops last night, it occurred to me that this game, in that raging cauldron, against that superb and highly motivated opposition chasing their own sense of redemption, was the game when Josh Caddy ceased to be an ex Sun and became a Geelong Cat.

I was on the flank at the other end and it barely crossed my mind that he might kick it!
Suffice it to say that I was happy to be proven wrong.

I was right behind him in line with the goals on that flank, and could see it was going through the whole way

The last 2 weeks will have given him enormous confidence.
To be honest I think he's been so anxious to belong and do the right thing that his natural game has suffered
Once he starts to feel he belongs games like the last 2 will be more the norm - just love his hardness and determination

Yes....I have been very reserved about his performances to date, but he played a fine game Saturday.....and kicked a clutch goal....good signs for the future.

It was almost an impossible kick with the breeze going against him.

I was over the other side at the G and despite the above you just had the feeling he was up to it.

Yeah Motlop and Hawkins also gave stupid frees away too. Caddy does need to improve his peripheral vision and remember to look inside. He's getting there though.

Anyone know if the GC or GWS (think they have at least one of the Smedts/Caddy picks via mini draft trades with GC) have decided to activate them this year? Will be interesting to see where they slot in when they do and who is picked up with them. I think ultimately in our situation, where we have had to get quality kids in to replace veterans lest we end up like the saints and dogs, we did the right thing by trading them early regardless but the hindsight heroes will be out in force in 5 years time if they end up with a better outcome than us from those picks.

Caddy is a former Sun no more than Mooney was a former Kangaroo, ie: bugger-all. Coming to the club so raw is a huge plus for both Caddy and Geelong.

That was the one we traded to get Smedts, GC traded it to GWS in the Omeara deal, and yes I think it's the one GWS is using this year.

The Caddy one is with GC and they haven't nominated to use it this year.

i thought that earlier in the year as well. even his running style was the same as the way nathan used to run when he wasn't completely committing to getting the ball. i haven't seen it as much recently though, which can only be a good thing
