I don't think i have seen a player more dissapointing this year than josh Carr. In my mind he is the new Mcmanus, Carr just can't kick and he has so many brain freezes a match it's scary. What has happened to him.

I reckon Josh is liable for more turnovers in the back half than any other player this year. I can't doubt his handpassing really, he hasn't had a chance to be really tested, although if you remember the Geelong game he handed the ball directly to ablett for their first goal. His kicking has been shocking, resulting in about 5-6 goals from kicking out from full back.

I think the problem is he is playing differently to how he played at port, at port he was the in and under player, and at freo he seems to be more of a reciever which he isn't.

Sadely, my list of 2 players i least want to get the ball is now 3.
In order of players i look away at when they get the ball is.

1. Mcmanus
2. Headland
3. Josh Carr

Am I the only person that thinks this?

Cookie does a pretty good impersonation of Macca in the kicking stakes. For all his good (great) traits his kicking has seriously let him down.

Can I first say; d1ckhead!! obviously still sore about losing one of your hardmen.

Secondly - Josh Carr was brilliant for Freo in 1st 6-7 rounds, & just this last month has had a brain freeze? Injury? Brother not playing? Girlfriend?...who knows....but the fact is, yes he is playing a different role to that he played at the Turquoise Wonders. Which begs the question...WHY?

We must ask CC this question...because it ain't working.

For me...he should be playing the role he did 3-4 years ago at Port, in being the tagger of the team. He is too slow to be the "go to" man in the middle.

Comparing him to McManus....your joking. McManus has surely played his last game for Freo, while JCarr will be there for the next 5.

Well done n00b. A month is a long time. Not acceptable. Do you really think his heart is with fremantle? Purple really doesn't suit him.

And therein lays Freo's problem in getting another "big name" player at year end.

The player has to decide:

a). Do I want the big pay packet at Freo as well as being no chance of a premiership and having my skills dragged down by the rest of the team.

b). Shun the big bucks, stay in the East, have a realistic tilt at a premiership and have the potential of getting onto the media gravy train when I hang up my boots.

Freo - A culture of ruining players lives - lest we forget.

That made me laugh, he doesnt want to play for freo? is that why he came here then? I would of said he doesnt want to play for you, that is why he left.

Even the first 6-7 rounds he hasn't been at his best. In all the games this year i have watched him more than anyone else. Through the whole year he has made fundamental errors and his kicking hasn't been great, especially in the backline.

What cooky losses in his kicking he makes up for in his passion and toughness. Besides for every one mistake cooky makes Mcmanus makes 5 mistakes.

Nobody will ever take the mantle off Mcmanus, but Carr is making alot more mistakes than he should, considering his raps from port

He left Port for family reasons, and because he wanted to return home. I dont' think he really wants to be playing for the dockers. Have a look at his ankle next round. ;)

yes we know he left for family reasons. But if he didnt want to play for freo he wouldn't have come back and played for us, simple as that.

Hopefully Josh can turn it around, and i am sure he will, but his year has been shaky.

By the way, i compare them loosey to the skills. Like i said, nobody will be as bad as Mcmanus. If you really sit down and watch the number of turnovers or in-efective kicks he gets you would be surprised

Josh came to Freo as one of the premium "in and under players". it is a travesty that such a player is being tuned into an outsider running player.

The same happened to DJ. He was recruited as an outside running player but they have played him everywhere but.

I think Josh is adjusting to his new team and his role in the side. With Bell and Hasleby also playing inconsistent footy there is a lot of attention paid to Josh by the opposition. His last month has been poor, but like Plugga said his form prior to that was good. From memory he had 39 possessions against the pies.

J.Carr played well in the first 6 - 7 rounds and the team was doing OK with big wins against Melbourne/Geelong. The wheels have since fallen off and the whole team is playing poorly.

Put the wheels back on, by getting rid of CC, get some first team players back and things will change. J.Carr will be used correctly by new coach and be firing again.

Can't think of too many players who'd take on Ricciuto in a carpark and J. Brown on Grand Final day. It's safe to say he's got just a wee bit more fire (and skill, and ability, and *enter superlatives here*) than Rove's cousin and Neesham's nephew.

Carr is an absolute gun, suffice it to say he is struggling like the rest of his team - I don't see you comparing Pav to Daniel Schell after yesterday's equally dire performance.

He'll come good. It is pure folly to write off a player of his calibre after the odd poor game.

It is not the player, it is your non achieving culture. Look how quickly a good player, a premiership player has deteriorated under "cant coach". Quite embarrassing really. Change your culture (if you can) and the results will follow. Your list is adequate. Unbelievable decision to sign cc long term on the strength of one finals apprearance. Make the hard call. I can almost understand why your players cant/wont perform for him

Josh will be back to top form very soon, even wearing a purple jumper he has too much pride to keep playing 'average' football. Still is my favourite footballer :(

Josh was a superlative player for us. An on-field leader. A tough, skilled ball magnet. He was a serious loss. Suggestions he resume as a tagger are ridiculous. Like putting a tow-bar on a Maserati.
Why is he not achieving with you? Perhaps we need to consider players as being like pieces in a jigsaw puzzle. You can't take the piece from the top left hand of one puzzle and expect it to fit in the same place in another. This is the hazard of trades, at least for coaches/teams that don't have a proven track record of integrating other teams' ex-players.
You may never have him play effectively as we did. Like Kane Johnston. A great player with Adelaide, only very good at Richmond.
FWIW I reckon Shaun McManus would have been a sensation at many other clubs.
Josh is welcome back, we have an inanimate carbon rod we'd like you to consider in trade.

Assuming McManus grew balls, developed football skills and gained a premiership medal from somewhere, then sure.
I am comparing him with this years form, not past years. He started the season ok but at all stages this year his foot skills have been poor. He was an in and under player at port, but not at freo. He seems more of a reciever which he isnt. No doubting he is a great player, or for that matter was a great player at port. But he has made way to many mistakes this year, not just the last few weeks. Maybe i notice the mistakes more because i have watched him closely???

I notice a lot of Power supporters backing him up, which is fine, he was a great player at port, but this year has been well below par for him

Give him time mate and he'll come good. I haven't watched a lot of Freo's games this year but Josh is definitely an in and under midfielder. Once he adjusts to Freo's game style he will be great value for your team.

We'll have back :D

And what's with all the Port trolls on this board? Do I have to post that graphic again?

Shouldn't you lot be off writing fiction novellas on the main board about your so-called history?
