Josh Carr

I have no problems with trading Josh Carr and Schammer to Port. Josh isnt the type of midfielder freo require. If we could somehow snare Casissi, Pearce or Salopek I would do it. Although we are trading with Mark Williams so I wouldnt expect too much in the deal.

You're dreaming. Third round pick, 2nd rounder if Port make the 8.

third round and surj, for carr and a later third rounder, surj can be replaced

I reckon it's really important that Josh Carr stays. Not because he's a superstar but because of the message it sends. How bad does it look if a WA born vice-captain takes off interstate? It makes the club look really unprofessional to those outside the club and will affect the mindset internally.

We need Josh Carr much more than a 2nd or 3rd round draft pick.

He could easily say his SA born partner wants to go home... much like a former Docker-turned-Saint (in their leadership group at the time) returned to Freo cos his WA born missus wanted to go home. Not like it hasn't been done before.

Not that I necessarily think it's true - just that it has been done and we were the beneficiary.

Josh is 29 next year. If we could get a pick in the 30s (say), then it might not be a bad trade as part of the "rebuild".

I imagine MCarr will stay around the club in some capacity, and he would probably be keen to get him to stay; and I would think that Harvs would want his leadership experience - but if he stayed and wasn't happy, then wouldn't it be better for him to go and we get an extra youngster who we might have for the next 10 years??

Let him go. Won't get any tears from me. He's been half arsed for two seasons now. Him going up as third man in the ruck in the last quarter on the weekend when we needed to win ball at ground level typified his performance s of late for me. Lights are on but nobodies home.:(
If players don't want to be here get rid of them. Their attitude spreads like a cancer.

A Good Trade...

Josh Carr wants to go back to Port, well i say let him...

Josh Carr for Marlon Motlop and a late pick.

Thoughts?

Hey guys, wondering if you would consider Courtney Johns for Schammer? Would be considered a very small trade, but we are looking for all the depth midfielders we can get, and Courtney, although has shown extremely little for us, has promise. He has obvious weaknesses in his ground skills, but his speed is better than people thinking and a great long accurate left foot. Could be worth a try? With Gumbleton and Neagle and possibly Daniher foward coming through, we probably won't hold onto him.

He'd be lucky to get a senior game for East Fremantle.

Salopek is untradeable.

Hmm gee thats a bit harsh. I've always been a fan of his, because he's a good size, and has so many things going for him as a foward. Just doesn't seem to be able to get into the game when he plays in the 1's. If you watched him for Bendigo, he simply looks too good for the VFL, he tears them up, not by kicking 8-10 goals every week, but by humiliating his opponent with pace, marking, kicking, size. I just wish he could show it in the seniors.

We've already got Murphy and Campbell to take that role, the last thing we need is another one, particularly one who's so injury prone. I think you're just going to have to cut your losses with him and hope that Gumby can stay fit for more than 5 minutes. You win some you lose some.

Too right P17. he's out of contract and I hope the FFC plays hard ball like they did with HAZE. There is no way he's worth the money he's currently on.
if Belly can be playing for rookie wages and getting more touches and no reports, then the FFc puts a figure in front of him take or ____ off.

let his manager hawk him around the traps. I'd be surprised if there was a stampede to sign him from rival clubs. Crowley is fitting nicely into the taggers role.If port want him so be it.

we don't need slow short people in the midfield any more.

Carr for a 2nd rounder would seem to be fair - especially if Port are happy with their younger brigade and want to hang on to the Salopeks of this world.

Carr has probably been the most disapointing player of the season for me.

On Schammer for Johns - I don't think we can afford to let a 23 year old midfielder go especially Schammer who I still think has a reasonable chance of turning it around.

A stint in the WAFL is certainly called for and would be on the cards if Haselby, Headland, Webster and then part time injuries/suspensions to Carr, Black, Foster & Johnson - hadn't of reduced the choices at selection time.

The only way I would consider it would be if we were to package Warnock and Schammer - to the Dons but I suspect we would want someone you would not be prepared to depart with.

Safer to just say no deal to Essendon.

Who woulda thought it was Michaelangello Rucci.

Definately a reduced/performance based contract for a few of them if they stay on, Jeff included.

Re: A Good Trade...

IMVHO it's nothing but media hype that Josh wants to go to Port. Seriously he's established himself here in Freo / Perth, he's turning 29 next year... it would be a huge risk to take to go to Adelaide and try and fit in with where Port are headed. He's not a young gun any more - he's a guy heading towards the twilight of his career... why would he put himself out there and have to then compete for a spot with some of the young blokes coming through in Port's pretty potent midfield...?

Just imagine trying to re-establish himself among the playing group - it's a huge ask. And while Port are looking better than us right at this moment in time, would they want to take on a 29 year old who may or may not be around when they next make their assault on the premiership?? Last year was an aberration for them making the GF... not really indicative of where they are currently at - and Josh Carr (as much as we and Port supporters love him) is not the difference between them losing a GF by 119 points and winning a premiership.

IMHO Josh is going nowhere and will retire a Freo player.

There's a bit of a difference though. The leadership group contains almost half the list, we only have one vice-captain.

Blacky also had that famous stoush at training with Riewoldt. Giving the golden boy a flogging at training would have made things awkward for Blacky I imagine.

If Josh Carr was at Port and reported to want home I would say a pick in the 30's would be reasonably fair. But that the fact that he came across under much fanfare and is now our vice captain I think would look really bad if he was to turn around and say see ya later, I'm off back to Adelaide.

A bit like the thread about trading Pav. Hypothetically, considering where our list is at a trade of 3 early picks for Pavlich would be pretty good. But considering all the other factors it's not worth contemplating.

Sure, if Josh is keen to go we don't want to hold him back. If his hearts not in it then let him return to Port, but it would say a lot about the club if he'd rather live in Adelaide than play for Fremantle.

If he were to say that he's leaving Port would probably hold all the aces at the trade table even though our PSD pick will be before theirs. If he announced his departure we can either trade him for whatever Port offer, re-draft a player that doesn't want to be here, or allow Port (or the eagles ) to pick him up for nothing in the PSD.
