Daren Reeves ain’t leaving a well sourced and structured SANFL gig for a sideways move. If we are serious about acquiring Rocks EI, IP and Elite Sport IQ bring him in as the Senior assistant. He will drive standards and bring a proven elite mindset, I am sure Carry and Rocks philosophies would see a very good program running underneath.
Rocks?

Disagree, we've been within a kick of a GF a few times. If we had major deficiencies in defense and forward, then we wouldn't have been that close.

I do agree around the midfield break even, however luckily it hasn't happened often in the past (aside from this season)

If you look at some of the finals we lost, you'll see that there are some that we absolutely got outplayed and had no chance - but others that we threw it away by not taking our chances. Even the ones we did win, we did that with horrible goal conversion.

Key finals losses that were clearly due to missing opportunities:

2017 vs WCE - 10.16 vs 12.6 (WCE Shuey duckgame)
2014 vs Hawks - 13.16 vs 15.7

But then you look deeper into matches where momentum matters - and you see games like against Sydney in last years PF

Qrtr time: Syd 4.0 vs 2.3
HT: Syd :9.1 vs 4.6
At this point, our heads drop and we continued to miss chances to bring us back, whilst they continued to kick accurately.

These are all just examples of times where Hinkley's gameplan has coached a winnable game, yet our players skills and more importantly, goal conversion has let us down. Yes, that is also Hinkley's responsibility - so it's not defending him, but it is saying that the gameplan is not what has cost us over time (yes of course, there are games where it has cost us)
The hawks loss was 100% down to poor goal kicking in the first qtr.
3-9 and so many easy shots missed.
The West coast loss highlighted just how dumb we can be at tackling.
Yes he made it look worse but we gave him an opportunity to milk it.
Fast forward over 10 years and we still kick shit for goals and give more frees away than any other side.
This is from professional sportsman who should know how to do the basics well before they start playing AFL.
I want a hard arse coach that’s not going to take any pea hearted efforts, if your not up to it your out the door.
We have guys getting regular games that wouldn’t get a kick in a street fight.
I just can’t see it happening until we have a massive clean out and that includes admin.

Tom Morris reckons we spoke to Longmire, Simpson & Buckley last year and ruled them all out in favour of Josh.

His words:
Lomgmire - Said we thought he was cooked
Simpson - Happy to step away into the media
Buckley - Not for us

Whether that rules them out for other roles I'd say yes.

James Hird lol. We're through the looking glass here, people
Hird is intelligent, has a great understanding of the game, excellent communicator, has lived through adversity, and has shown resilience & humility.

I think he’s exactly what we need.

Seems odd to report things in this way given that Carr signed a contract to be the next coach back in August of 2023.

I don't want Hird at the club, but he was smart enough to know other clubs were on stuff, and wanted to do something about it to match them.

But he employed an amateur to do a covert operation, so he looses marks there.

He has made it up.

I'm not sure this is true, we didn't go through a full blown process whatsoever. The only two names I heard were Carr, and occasionally McQualter. I think that's the only other coach we actually spoke to.
