Five Copelands is an amazing record for a midget
Freakish skills on the left foot

And what is not evidenced on the highlight reel is how good he would have been of he had stayed a centreman for his whole career. Injuries were part of the reason he spent most of his career in the forward line.

Agree he is nothing like Peter. Look at the height difference. Gavin and Peter are much taller than their sons unfortunately. Don't think they are going to be as good as them.

The youngsters out there watching this that weren't around have to realize that back in those days most games weren't filmed (and a lot that were weren't retained) so the clips you see are only a portion of what he did. He did that sort of freaky shit every week!

Yes, if we were playing Footscray at the Western Oval, there wouldn't be one camera there.
Only the 'big ticket' games were televised (for footy replay).
I went to the footy every week 70's & 80's & was in awe of Daics performances week in week out.
Opposition players didn't know where to stand, how to play on him...in front, behind, scrag his jumper???
It didn't matter...he would do the miracle stuff anyway.

Yep, pretty sure that's the goal that legend has he apologised to Gastev after kicking it.

My favourite highlights package so far is the one of Daicos senior it makes me wish I was 10-15 years older

You should have seen Greening play, at least there's some good footage of Daics.

Without a doubt the best player I have seen play for Collingwood bar none.

The only thing that could stop daicos was injury. Dead set freak. He only needed several touches to mince teams.

Daicos was 'the opponent whisperer', players and coaches actively feared him and almost partied if he was out injured when they came to play us.

Not really but they'd go the knuckle when he played midfield.

Every now and then a player had a successful day on him but I can't think of any player that always or consistently stopped him.

I remember that Carlton's best stopper used to be Tommy Alvin and they tried putting him on Daics. Daicos then kicked 6 in a quarter and won the match. Good times!
