The second semi demolition is one of my favorite games of all time. One piece of play sticks on my memory from the semi final.. Madden was in possession across half back and had nobody to dispose to. He handballed to Kickett who was hot.....and handballed straight back to Madden.....who handballed straight back to Kickett........and then Scott Russell waltzed through intercepted and stole the ball and bombed a goal from 45. I knew then that the Bombers were toast and if we met them again in the GF we'd have their measure.

They did beat us at Waverley in about round 18 in a classic. Millane played the worst game of his career , beaten by Anderson of all people. And Christian was so bad he was dropped soon after (was worse the week later when Hawthorn belted us) and didnt get a recall until the WC QF replay!

Accept no substitute, not only was it probably the most difficult kick to execute ever, it actually won us a flag, because if he'd missed we would've lost that prelim.

One of my favourite things about the goal is the way the crowd slowly rose as he collects the ball at the impossible angle.

You know that feeling you just get in your bones, when you know something amazing is about to happen you can't be seated for it? I love watching the people who anticipated it early.

The way excitement reaches fever pitch. The explosion of joy. The release of pressure. Oh man, for as long as I live, I'll never get sick of watching it.

In some ways he will add more depth in the midfield, particularly his field kicking which is a strength, something we need to inject more if we are to score heavily.

Good occasion to bring him in under the big stage Friday night lights, would whet his appetite for it, his or his Dad's.

Yes used to love watching the great man weave his web, apart from his ridiculous foot skills he just knew how the ball was going to bounce and he was a super smart, his second goal of the GF was underrated for mine simply because he knew he didn't have a play if he followed his opponent and he knew his opponent didn't have a play even if he kept the ball in, so he just stayed in the one spot he knew he had a scoring chance, some might think he was being lazy but it was superb forward work.
