Please please please let Hawthorn trade for him...

Clutching at straws mate. Hawthorn aren’t trading for him. They need their 2019 first and maybe second round pick to bid on a father/son player who will likely be taken very high in the draft.

All good. Should not cost more than a third.

I doubt they’ll go the Jenkins route given his age and where the Hawks list sits. If this was 2-3 years ago then it might be a different strategy.

Hes finished. Youd be lucky to get a 5th rounder and youd take it just to get his contract off your books.
His contract was front loaded. His body is fine (he started footy so late) and he's a 40+ goal a year key forward on $440k a year.

Seems like him and Tex work better without each other. He'd be a bargain for someone, you'd think.

If someone is intellectually challenged enough to give a 3rd Round Selection for Josh Jenkins does that mean we'd get a 1st Round Selection for Tim O'Brien?

I'm sure we'd be more than willing to pay half his salary also
C'mon.

Tim O'Brien has never played good football. Ever.

Jenkins has been a 40-odd goal a year key forward for five years. He CAN play, unlike O'Brien - he's been in the top dozen key forwards in the comp the last few years. He has flaws, but he's really athletic and has delivered results.

Hes a 31yo in bad form who specialises in joe the goose goals and now playing crap in the SANFL. Regardless of his actual salary youll have to pay part of his salary for the last 2 years of his contract and even then i doubt anyone will take him on.

Worth noting that Jenkins will probably end up back in the big league at some point this year when Himmelberg tires. It's his attitude right now that absolutely stinks right now, he got dropped back to the sanfl last year to fix it and came back better than ever.

So if I were looking at clubs and reasons for them to pass or take Jenkins for a late second early third rounder

Brisbane: No, wouldn't take him unless they want a temporary chop out ruck

Carlton: No, plenty of young tall forwards

Essendon: Already have McKernan but could use him as Daniher/McKernan are always injured

Geelong: Maybe but can't imagine he is of the age group they'd want, surely prefer Krueger.

Gold coast: Dew would punch him for his attitude, nope

GWS: Depth forward ruck to replace Lobb, better than the others on the list like Keath etc. Injury prone Patton etc. Worth a shot.

Melbourne: Yep with Preuss and Hogan gone, McDonald looking rubbish and Weid the only other kpf I really see coming, he'd be a good get at pick ~40

North: Brown, Larkey, Wood... nope

Port: Jenkins would be a typical type to cross over, would only be to get Westhoff up and around the ground while Marshall develops, don't need another ruck unless Ryder is cooked. Maybe.

Sydney: Yeah could see him up there on a short contract but at 31 he is a stop gap.

Freo: Nope, plenty of talls now

West Coast: Potentially improves there structure as a chop out ruck type and goes a small way to cover Kennedy who's got less time left in footy

St. Kilda: s**t maybe, but surely they role with what they've got.

So yeah, not a lot of takers but he does represent value to teams that need a temporary fix with decent ability.

Adelaide could definitely hold onto him as depth and not be hard done by. An injury to Himmelberg and he is straight back in.

God Jerker gets no love.

I mean he has been VERY average this year and definitely has a chip on his shoulder, but the fact is he is a proven goal kicker. In his past 5 seasons he has kicked 40 , 46 , 62 , 45 , 46.

YES
he is 30 now, and will turn 31 in February 2020, but he definitely has value to add to a club (Crows or otherwise) for at least 2 more seasons. (2020-2021)

His so called MASSIVE contract is 550k a year, which really isn't even that MASSIVE.

Yes Crows can afford to lose him with Himmelberg & Fogarty ready to slot in at FF (albeit Fog isn't big enough to play 2nd ruck) but they won't give him up for nothing. 200+cm FWD/RUCK that are good shots for goal don't crow on trees.

If 17 other club don't asked, you don't need to give him up .

You've also got to factor in other clubs don't have the wealth of depth in tall forwards you do. Honestly I saw it as more Himmelburg forcing his way in, he's played very well I thought.

His body looks in pretty good shape. If the Crows pick up a bit of his contact. A draft between 40-60 and a $400 k package. Could interest a few clubs as a 2 to 3 year fill in contact.
The only thing that would consern me is his Sanfl form.Is he not trying in the ressies.Good Afl players should perform at the lower level.
So if Adelaide want to trade JJ.They will have to show him off in the senior side. When Himmelberg needs a spell.Probably in a months time.

Baffled as to why someone would want him.
Goal square merchant, what old fashioned fans would call a sheepdog.

Very overrated.
Shouldn't cost much you'd think, and for the Dogs it creates another target so the sole focus isn't on Naughton all the time. He has the capacity to produce up to a 50-goal season for whichever club picks him up (or possibly plays 4 games and rots in the VFL). This is all depending on whether he comes cheap. If Crows wanted more than a late 4th rounder, and if Jenkins wanted more than $400k, then it's a big fat pass from me
