Nope. A majority of our players like they can just go about their business in Sydney without too much fuss but the negative to it is they are away from family and friends they grew up with. Josh will get paid well whatever he chooses.

Like all things in life, it's a gamble. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if we got both and didn't win anything.
Considering we've produced maybe one consistent A grader from scratch since Carey, it's a risk worth taking for us. It's at least ambition, and it's down to our people to convince Josh (with the assistance of a big fiscal payoff for his troubles) to realistically turn down a greater chance of success to join our freak big spending project that may not go anywhere.
But you either try in life, or you don't at all. I'm happy we're trying.

Been hearing similar on our board on here for a couple of weeks from peeps who have heard things.

Yes. Connors said on Open Mike last night that he is "obsessed with premierships", so it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he's strongly advising Josh to not leave GWS until he's got at least one flag.
If he gets it this year, he's ticked that box.
If he was staying regardless he could just sign now, so I reckon if they win the flag and he hasn't re-signed in the meantime he's gone.
Come on man, its Connors he only cares about money. He was saying that to get teams to offer more money to entice Kelly.

I suspect that he'll probably leave if the giants win a flag this year. If not, he'll re-sign for a couple of years.
A few have heard that North have been ruled out or highly unlikely. Thought I made that pretty clear. We're now hearing it from the media as well.
Someone also said that Carlton don't believe they're in the mix and he actually named his source, who he said was Ken Sheldon, who has a close link to Carlton obviously.

I wouldn't assume that at all. North reckon they could fit both in and we also have a mountain of cap space, that just got a whole lot bigger with Riewoldt retiring and will get bigger again if Montagna isn't offered a new contract.
If they were attainable for a combined $2.7mil I imagine we'd be able to do it.

StKilda is smart enough to not invest that much in 2 players. Your list is getting closer to priming and players like Billings, Bruce, Gresham, McCartin etc will all want their piece of the pie in the coming years.
North have no one to pay at the moment so could probably do it. But I don't see Martin and Kelly wanting to go to the spooners.

Saints are evidently back in with an offer for Martin. This suggests they have swung and missed on plan A, Kelly.

It's true what you say about everyone wanting their piece of the pie in coming years, but on the other hand, Dusty is one of the best 2-3 in the league, and Kelly is closing in fast, so if you're a middle of the ladder team, with a good and rapidly improving young group coming through, you might back yourself to win a flag before too many of those improving types come OOC again and put their hands out for a payrise.
If we win our 2nd flag in 100+ years, I doubt anyone will care if it costs us one or two of them down the track. What we really need is high-end, elite talent, as we have have plenty of depth and "B/C-graders". If getting in a couple of "A+" types us some of them, so be it.
David Armitage would also be on very decent coin, but was restricted to only 2 games this year due to injury, and if we got Dusty/Kelly, Dave might find it hard to get his spot back, so him not getting another contract once his current one expires (or getting traded in the meantime) would free up a chunk more coin. Koby Stevens possibly in a similar boat (albeit on less coin).
As will Tom Hickey either being traded or getting a pay cut now that he's not our no.1 option in the ruck any more.
We would have paid a lot of money to Armo, Hickey and Sean Dempster this year (at least a mil I'd say) and between then they've played 7 games!
Connors is the one who says he is obsessed with those on his books winning flags, so Josh might not share his "obsession" and may be happy to come home for a huge payday after just one.
If he wants more, why hasn't he re-signed already?
