As mentioned, it is GWS, Carlton or bust for Josh.

Despite North's offer and supposed contact, naturally players in the modern AFL world must actually agree to a move.

Startling, but the truth.
Kelly wants afl trophies not a team that values collecting high draft picks over everything else. Even with kelly Carlton would ask for another priority pick next year.

If he wants trophies he ain't choosing North either so looks like he is staying at the Giants

North have a good core building. Their defense is set for a decade. Brown is the best young forward in the comp. Future is bright at North.

HFF's & HBF's are also locked in place. No issues there.

Pick up Kelly and pad him out with Rockliff and/or Miles and we are back in the mix.

Alternatively, just come back again next year for another top liner.

Wow, Essendon fans rightfully get blasted for overrating our list but this is a whole new level.

Please stop talking like you're an insider
The truthfulness of this claim still remains to be seen.

I never thought we would land Martin.

I am very bullish on us landing Kelly.

Something would have to change right now for it to fall through, and you shouldn't waste your energy on the Carlton and StKilda claims.

Where is the overrating? Brown finished 3rd in the goalkicking. North has Durdin, Nielson, McKay, and Ed Vickers-Willis developing under Tarrant and Thompson. All 4 of those are under 23. To suggest that isn't a strong core developig together only proves you know zero about North.

Just because you have players under the age of 23, doesn't mean that they are automatically good.

So, can someone give me an update of where the thread is at? Would really appreciate it.

Sent from my iPhone using Righteous Man Power.
The signing of Dusty was apparently North's intention all along.
Kelly was supposedly always the end game, they now have 2.5m/year to offer him.

You're literally just throwing names out there.

Other teams have much stronger young cores.

Did you have EVW in fantasy this year? He actually looks promising
He absolutely does look promising.

The main issue with North's list is that they'll need a few years of picking in the top 5 or so to accumulate elite young talent.
There is a huge difference between young talent and elite young talent.

The Saints have a bright young list, but lack elite young talent apart from Billings and McCartin, and will subsequently find difficulty taking that next step.

Clubs simply must invest in elite young talent by way of top 5-10 picks.

In a year where Dusty goes from great midfielder to top 2 midfielder in the league and Prestia (9th OA pick) is added to the squad, what happens to Richmond?

Carlton needs another year or two of this before a sustained climb of the ladder occurs.

even as a staunch North supporter myself through and through, it is downright baffling reading some fellow fans comments regarding Kelly. It is fanciful to suggest our offer is the only one he is considering with formidable competition from Essendon and Carlton in particular for his signature. All this 'its happening' stuff is embarrassing to say the least, especially after we missed out on Martin we should know not to go the early crow, it only comes back to bite. I hope and think we are a genuine shot for Kelly but gee whiz it is far, far from a done deal like many North fans are making it out to be and i hope they dont end up with egg on their collective faces.

Lol come back to criticise when you develop a squad that challenges. I never said they were good, i said they are developing. Each has shown promise but a long way to go obviously.

High draft picks dont build lists. development does. Ben Brown was pick 47.

Paddy McCartin is elite young talent? concussion aside, he hasn't shown anything.

Every club is like that. Richmond under Terry Wallace had a couple of players who shower promise but had a long way to go. Unfortunately they never got there. Nobody has a clue where North's list will be at in 5 years.
