All this talk from North fans that Kelly is desperate to get to their club. But why the need to offer such a massive contract that is too good to refuse? It seems Kelly is desperate to stay at GWS & only an offer too good to refuse will see him depart...

(I realise this applies to StK as well but it's North fans that are saying Kelly wants to go 'home' to follow in his fathers footsteps & play for the club he barracked for as a kid. Yeah right).
Nobody said that at all.

God father offer means we want him.

he's decided to leave clearly by not resigning in February.

he'll choose us over another club offer the same or more as ours because BFNAK.

How you got all that confused is beyond me.

He is nearly the best player in the comp - he should get paid as one of the best. Like any very good player leaving you need to offer decent incentive. Yes there is a romantic edge to Norths offer but we still need offer a good contact.

No there really isnt.
If there was emotional attachment then he wouldnt be need that much.

No player besides Buddy and Boyd have gotten a deal offer like this.

He may go to North (if i was a betting man it would be the shortest odds) but dont fool yourself into thinking its anything other than the dollars and length.

Paddy Dangerfield took a lot less money to go to Geelong than he could have got at other clubs, and much less than the Kelly offer from North.

We aren't stretched in the cap like the Cats as well as the new agreement will see a decent increase in player payments. Kelly is also 4 years younger.

Danger is the exception to the rule.

I would think the odds to stay at GWS would be the best at the moment. Its always harder to get a player to leave a club - especially when the chance of a flag is very good.

I wish it were so. But this deal from North (and other sides if they step up) will set him up for life. Cant blame the kid for accepting it.

I still see him signing for 2 years - still on a decent contact - and seeing what happens over the next 2 and half years. Wold still get massive offers in 2 years.

My 2 cents worth is I really can't see any of the big starting 22 guys leaving GWS just yet, if they win a flag this year then they might be more susceptible to leaving.

GWS would be a bit cautious if he hasn't signed until the end of the year and they win the flag this year.....

But my gut tells me he may do similar to Shiel and sign a 2-3 yr contract that gets him to free agency (especially with the talk it may lower) then leave after that.

This is what I am also leaning towards. 2 years with GWS and then look at a return.

He'll be playing at North next year, issue now is what we have to give up to get him, both in terms of dollar dollar bills for Josh, and picks/players for GWS.
Your guessing and leaving yourself wide open if he is not at the Roos next year. These types of posts can come back to bite.

If Kelly wants to go to an immediately successful side he will probably have to take a pay cut as well. Otherwise take a pay cut and stay at the team he is at.

bullshit.

I am 100% certain he'd prioritise future success over BFNAAK

They are not the same. Dylan has signed twice with no issues and never given the slightest indication he is interested in going. Exactly the opposite. Next time same thing will happen. Some players are happy to stay at the same club and as long as we offer fair coin, and we will, thats inevitable.
When he said publicly he wasn't considering other offers before signing, it's the best indication their is trust and his manager is getting easy money.

Kelly is a different kettle if fish and clearly is considering very good options as he is entitled to do.
